i saw the smiths on their first US tour. it's indelible in my mind. saw johnny on his first solo tour on the messenger. (always meant to see the healers) have never seen morrissey solo but have loved his records and his band (except for last one) for me- seeing johnny that time- i was and still am blown away by how well he and his band play the smiths classics. not that anyone should be surprised by that. but it's strikingly clear who 'owns' the guitar parts, so to speak- and it's not boz..or moz.I completely agree. It's incredible how he plays the guitar. All chords are simple, but only Johnny can make that sound, nobody else. If I was a boy, I would certainly pick a guitar and follow his path.New songs sounded all fantastic live. My favourites are Walk Into The Sea, Jeopardy, Riser, Hey Angel, Hi Hello, Bug (Johnny introduced this song "it's about the idiot in White House" at Amsterdam) and Spiral Cities. I know now already that I'll love this new album. What a man is that, my guitar wizard. Girls can play guitar too

I didn't have the time to watch this in full yet, but I've watched half of it and it's brilliant.
Check out the 'Some Girls' riff at 17:10. Heaven.

mimmi... i just want to share this story here because i think you will appreciate it... there was great anticipation of the smiths show on their first US tour - in the cool indie circles at least...what was then called 'new wave.' we had heard hatful of hollow and the 'first' s/t album of course - but we wondered, could they play LIVE? the night of the show billy bragg opened- just him, and electric guitar and an amp. then on came 'the march of the montagues and the capulets'- the opening music for the smiths. then out they came - morrissey's gladioli in the back pocket - and launched right into "William..." Up rose such a cheer for the audience! indeed, yes, they could play...and sing. they had an obtrusive stage rig that precluded me from seeing johnny stage left at first- tho i could hear that guitar that i had heard and loved so from the albums. so i peered around bit by bit- craning my neck to see him...when lo and behold he was stretching around the opposite direction to catch a glimpse of the crowd in my section...at the same time! the eyes locked...cool man...and that was that. on with the show. brilliant memory - untold until now - but a cherished moment. among all the gigs ive seen thru the years - it was and still is the most special. our beatles. x

I'm sure you'll love it. New songs sounded great live. Can't believe that it's a week ago when I saw him! You can start a thread in "Bulletin Board" on this forum to ask if anybody is interested for your spare tickets. live4ever.proboards.com/board/27/bulletin-board

guitar tour de force here... Wow. Just wow. One of his best. This album got me really excited. With the songs I've already heard I can say it will be his best solo album. Wasn't Walk Into The Sea being released last friday? What happened?

Wasn't Walk Into The Sea being released last friday? What happened? agreed on all. he posted a clip and fans got excited- but nothing ever said it was gonna be last friday. his pattern is never to release singles/songs that close together. and- as i recall -usually only 2 before the album release? so we'll see. either this friday- or we just have to wait until June 15

So many tracks got me pumped. Rise sounded good, but songs like Spiral Cities,Walk Into The Sea,Bug and Jeopardy are getting me really hyped. More than the last Mozz album, because Spent The Day In Bed was such a tune but nothing else really in the album

Gonna be amazing in studio i think. as for Moz - Spent the Day was the only song i remotely liked from that album.

Unfotuneatlly Moz's last album is the only album I probably won't listen anytime soon again. Really loved "World's Peace...:, but his last album didn't impressive me at all. As I posted before, Rise is a killer tune and Walk Into The Sea is one of the best songs Johnny ever written (and played). He said that this album is his best work (besides The Smiths) and I agree although I haven't listened to the entire album yet. June 15th can't come quick enough! and you're welcome, shannee. Enjoy the show. You won't be disappointed.

Recording from Dublin, Copenhagen and Paris have been kindly shared on dime by original tapers. I've only heard Dublin after seeing Johnny last week, but gonna save Copenhagen and Paris until the album is out. If anyone would love to have them, but can't download them from dime, I'd be glad to reupload them.
