Shame about the result, but there's a lot of positives to take away from this. Let's use this to build on.
Plus, Costa Rica's victory could be a very decisive result for us.
Never say die.

Anyway I thought England was going to be worse, put Lallana or Barkley instead of Welbeck and then you can do well

I have to say I'm not a big fan of Welbeck ok, Rooney doesn't play with England as well as he does with United, but he's that kind of player that even if he's invisible for the whole match can make you win it, I'd never take him off my team

I have to say something about England, football has evolved a lot since it was created, but they still play like it is 1940 or something, it came Holland 74, Brazil 82, ... and it seems that they still haven't learnt nothing about it.
England is solid but needs a creative mid-field and a proper striker.
But Ok, it was only the first game and against Italy, and also they played well today.

Although there's clearly work still to be done, I was pleasantly surprised by the way we performed against Italy.

I think the problem with Rooney is that he always goes for glory himself with England nowadays, I think never scoring at a world cup is really getting to him.

What's everyone's thoughts before today's match vs. Italy? Can we get revenge on them from Euro 2012 - where we got knocked out by penalties (how typical) in the dullest match I have ever watched? Come on England!! No There I said it YEAHBUDDY

do you think the long shot was a tactic that came from hodgson or was it just selfishness on the day?

I doubt that any other nation in the whole tournament would play their best player out of position and make a mockery of him. Absolutely fucking ludicrous.

If you are talking about rooney then he was played in a position he has played many times his form has been inconsistent in the last part of the season and we have better form players he should have been dropped from the starting line-up, his first touch is often poor.

Sturridge, Sterling and Welbeck are all better for England. Rooney's a waste of space and is only in the first team probably so it pleases sponsors. He's shit.

So the stakes are high for tomorrow: Lose & Go Home, Draw & Cling On....basically, a must win for both teams. Eek!

Gerrard was shit, same goes for Welbeck, even Sterling wasn't as good as he was against Italy Rooney played well, Sturridge needs to be closer to the box, but did some great things, Baines and Johnson were better than the other day, I liked Barkley when he got in as well, as I've already said, I think it's not over yet

I think we need to not name any names here *cough GERRARD* He was terrible today, but you can't blame him for the 2nd goal. The whole fucking defense went literally AWOL. You're never going to win anything with Baines - Cahill - Jagielka - Johnson. Terrible.

If Jagielka didn't wander from position then Suarez wouldn't have got in for the second. Growing up England always had a good defence to rely on, the last four years they've been useless. But when you have an English press that considers Roy Hodgson a great manager and Wayne Rooney a world class player, then you really are setting yourself up for a fall. Especially when you see real world class talent on show like Suarez.
Whatever the case, Suarez proving why he is with Ronaldo and Messi in the very elite of world footballers.

Oh, wait, no, the word you're looking for here is "shit", as in: "....which is shit defending".
