Note: If the song is alleged to have been written before 2004 but we didn't hear it until 2004 or later, it still qualifies. Soundcheck recordings don't qualify.

Can't see the poll on my phone, it would be between The Importance Of Being Idle and Everybody's On The Run for me, The Dying Of The Light would be up there but as a soundcheck recording it doesn't count

Definitely "If I had a gun..." It's my favourite song ever and it still fascinates me whenever I hear it ^^

Alone On The Rope A Simple Game Of Genius Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me
I'd take these 3 "leftovers" over HFB1 & the last 3 Oasis albums put together.

Why didn't you vote for it? There is no option to vote from my phone. Cannot even see a list.

Bag It Up, Falling Down, The Turning, hard to decide... This has to be a wind up. Three average numbers at best.

Would've liked to have voted Alone On A Rope but The Importance of Being Idle is one my absolute favourite songs from my absolute favourite band of all time, so I could hardly ignore that, could I?

I'm surprised at Bag It Up leading - I think it's just Oasis by numbers (and I prefer Falling Down from that dull album).
I'll go for Alone on the Rope - not the most obvious choice but something we haven't heard much from Noel. It's mysterious, brooding, very emotional and genuinely sad, and it's charm lies in its understated appeal - 'a whisper' if Noel was to describe it.

Not a criticism. But looking at that list , shows Noel peaked early. Really don't think any are world beaters , lyla rocks more for music than words , Gun to head " who kicked a whole in the sky so the heavens can cry over me " is as good as he done , so let there be love
I will say this , in the last 10 years then best tune written by a Gallagher is by Liam ...... I'm outta time , beats all those IMO

I voted Falling Down, but I do think The Dying of the Light has the potential to be better, depending on the production (please, don't make it another If I Had a Gun / Everybody's on the Run).

The Importance of Being Idle stands up with DLBIA and the rest of Noel's early songs. It is excellently crafted, fresh, and some how it has some of that special "magic" that most of the his later material lacks. It is dark, comical, and it is stroke of genius. This is the best song he has written in the past ten years and it is funny that it is about his laziness.
The Turning is probably my favorite "standard" Oasis song written by him. I would love to hear more songs like this if Oasis continued. It has a classic Oasis chorus but it has some new textures to it.
Alone on the Rope - this is the direction I want to see Noel go into as he moves forward in his solo career. It is also has new textures; atmospheric and subtly jazzy with the drums. Easily one of my favorite Noel songs and it is one of his most underrated songs in his catalog. It is better than just about everything on his solo album in my opinion.
Honorable Mentions:
Part of the Queue, The Shock of the Lighting, Falling Down, If I Had Gun (one of Noel's finest melodies. shame about the plodding production), What A Life

I don't like The Importance of Being Idle but agree with your assessment, weirdly. Can't really be faulted as a song but I never want to listen to it, maybe I don't like his voice on it or something. It has a certain 'Sunday afternoon' feel to it, and I don't like Sundays. Completely understand why people would love it though. Agree completely on The Turning and Alone On The Rope. I voted for Bag It Up over The Turning because it's an absolute beast but The Turning would have been my second choice. Think the vocal lets the latter down a bit.

Looking at that list leaves me feeling pretty uninspired.
There's no question that Noel's songwriting dipped post 1995/6.

I wonder how our perception of those songs would change if Liam sang on all of them (including Noel's solo tunes). Food for thought there. DINE ON THAT FOOD.
