I ask because most members on this board like both bands (including myself)..whats your honest opinion?
Were/Are Oasis better than The Beatles at their best?

Oasis did more for me than the Fab Four ever could.

Same for me..I think The Beatles have a lot of good songs, Lennon, Paul and George all have good voices and are good song writers, some of their music is brilliant..
With that said I do think a lot of people make a big fuss about them..they were great but still over-rated imo, I like their songs as individuals but I struggle to listen to full albums. Its not even about the albums though because if a band has over 30-50 great songs..they're a great band imo regardless of which album the songs where on, for me The Beatles have around 15 great songs..the rest are a bit boring imo.
I have over 100 Oasis songs on itunes and never really get fed up of them.
Not saying The Beatles weren't great cos they were, but still over-rated

Not sure if the Beatles were over-rated, but Oasis has always been under-rated, especially in North America.

But..........
Oasis > Plastic Ono Band > Wings

If you ask me which band I love more, The Beatles or Oasis, then I'll say Oasis. If you ask me which band is better, The Beatles or Oasis, then I won't answer cos I don't like to compare bands.
But The Beatles have done a lot, a lot of things in the modern music history, so "who was/is better (on their peak): definitely The Beatles.

Completely agree with this, I don't listen to The Beatles anywhere as much as I do Oasis. But what The Beatles have achieved commands respect.

Oasis have two truly classic albums - their first two.
the Beatles have about ten classic albums...
not to mention, spellcheck automatically capitalizes 'beatles' when i type it - it doesn't with 'oasis'.
God bless.

Not getting involved anymore as I get to nuts ,,as time goes by. I have realized more and more. Bands like zep l stones Beatles are better because they sustained it. At there peak there better because internationally those bands did what oasis only did in UK for hysteria ......but what oasis has is what they don't ...Tnere fans are like football supporters. At the kop. Or whatever loyal base you want to insert ... Intensely , fiercely passionate unlike those fans I'm a fan of zep as all know. Best band ever fuck the Beatles. Zep played any style but. I love oasis more that's the difference ......you'll never walk alone and all .

The Beatles have around 15 great songs..the rest are a bit boring imo. That might be the most ridiculous statement I have ever read on this forum and I have read a ton of them. If the question was which band do I prefer the answer is easy it's Oasis. Noel Gallagher is my second favorite song writer by a big margin. However the question is which is the better band at their peak and that is easily The Beatles. Oasis's peak was two albums, their first two. The Beatles arguably got better and better as they went on. Not only were they great songwriters but they transformed themselves musically as they evolved.

Oasis is my favorite, but The Beatles are the best and end of, what they did and achieved was monumental.
I used to listen to them almost every time, but nowadays I barely listen to them, maybe I have heard them too much or because they are everywhere.
Also I have to say that I can't stand their first albums anymore, hold your hand, buy me love, happy to dance with you..., those things are cheesy as hell, however their mid to late stuffs are all amazing, but nowadays I much prefer Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones over them.

They never made "Oasis boots". Game. Set. Match. Huh ?? You lost me on that bro .....I mean there is no comparison . I don't think the Beatles are rock anyway so no comparison needed , personally think as strictly a rock band there not in my top 10 as pure rock. There music transcends genres why they are great , I put them in the Sinatra , Elvis. Tony Bennett Jim roselli. Genre , it's music I love and sill listen to , but not let loose or hang out to , it's more music to Appreciatte the brilliance or even simplicity , like Sinatra Elvis ect. Jmo. But boots ? No clue enlighten please ..... Lennon2217 your like my extremely cool younger brother who got my music. Then branched out and took it farther , so u lose me sometimes.

Back in the 60s, The Beatles wore these boots and made them a popular fashion item. Many companies produced them and they were known as "Beatle Boots". My dad had several pairs and was seen wearing them into the mid 1980s. Google it.

They never made "Oasis boots". Game. Set. Match. I actually understood the reference but I wouldn't have a week ago. I can't remember which movie or tv show I was watching and they mentioned Beatles boots. Now it's driving me crazy because I can remember where I heard it.

I personally don't think there best rock band ever ,,,zep by a mile to me ...always said it always will ......the Beatles cannot play kashmir or Achilles last stand ..... But zep can play she loves you , or strawberry fields .... way more diverse on there instruments and can play any sound. And there lead guitarist didn't need help from the likes of Clapton I.e. While my guitar gently weeps

Although I respect what the Beatles did and how they influenced things, I really don't actually like very many of their songs. There's probably like 10 I would consider to be songs I like. Whereas with Oasis there's more than 50 that I like.
