Love their version of "The Rains of Castamere", but their actual music hasn't really clicked for me. I don't skip when they come on, but at the same time they don't really stay with me.

Bought the album on the strength of System Only Dreams In Total Darkness, first National album I bought since High Violet. A lot colder and more abrasive sounding than that one, I’m really loving it for this.

'high violet' will always be my favorite, because that is the album that got me into them. but 'sleep well beast' is now a close second, a very close second. 'boxer' is really good too. 'trouble will find me' has it's moments, but i don't really listen much to it any more. maybe i will revisit it one day soon. |

I'm listening to Sleep Well Beast as I type and I really love this album. It's a combination of good old National until 2007 and a new era after High Violet. Even my better half loves Matt's voice saying "He is definitely one of the best vocalists out there". I'm glad that I could catch them up in Paradiso in 2010 with a capacity of 1500. 3 years later they filled the venue with 5500 and last year was twice of it. Matt Berninger can melt me with his heavenly voice. |
