Elvis had 29 consecutive #1 hits; the beatles…22. Elvis had another #1 hit twenty-five years after he died, The beatles…no. Elvis made 33 films, the beatles…5. Elvis’s first 24 albums reached the top 5, the beatles…24 albums!?! Elvis rose to the top despite being surrounded by performers like Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly Elvis recorded 78 albums, the beatles…12. Elvis was a dynamic performer who dazzled crowds, driving them to hysterics. Elvis was seen as ‘the personification of evil,’ ‘the first rock symbol of teenage rebellion’ and ‘a definite danger to the security of the United States’ when he started out. He was threatened with jail for dancing and barred from appearing on several television shows. Elvis fought in the army. I know that it means nothing coming from me (well some bloke i copy and pasted off the internet) But even John Lennon himself is quoted as saying, “Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn’t been an Elvis, there wouldn’t have been a Beatles.” “You have no idea how great he is, really you don’t. You have no comprehension - it’s absolutely impossible. I can’t tell you why he’s so great, but he is. He’s sensational.” -Phil Spector “There have been a lotta tough guys. There have been pretenders. And there have been contenders. But there is only one king.” “...it was like he came along and whispered some dream in everybody’s ear, and somehow we all dreamed it.” -Bruce Springsteen “When I first heard Elvis' voice, I just knew that I wasn’t going to work for anybody; and nobody was going to be my boss...Hearing him for the first time was like busting out of jail.” -Bob Dylan “It was Elvis who really got me hooked on beat music. When I heard "Heartbreak Hotel" I thought, this is it.” ―Paul McCartney “He was a unique artist - an original in an area of imitators.” -Mick Jagger

Bringing up the amount of films both the acts made is totally irrelevant of course but stating that he drove crowds into hysterics? Was this not also apparent in The Beatles gigs?

Elvis had a pet monkey way before it was cool...
the monkey was quite a handful and would even try to hump the female companions of Elvis and Elvis' friends...eventually Elvis yelled at the monkey like how you would scold a person or a child and the monkey stopped.
God bless.

MJ gets so much off that 1 thriller lp ...other than that bad and the rest were not groundbreaking or held in as high regard , plus he didn't act as a adult like Elvis , that whole king of pop bullshit I never got .... He made a few good lps solo ..one landmark. A great artist indeed . The best You got to be kidding me man , on what planet ??

And the Beatles and Elvis can't really be compared to seperate entities ..Elvis was a stylist like Sinatra .he made other people's songs his own .if u want to compare apples to apples it's Elvis vs frank ....they both sang others tunes , they both acted ( Sinatra a far better actor ) they both did Vegas To me frank wins easy ........Beatles vs MJ is fair , they both wrote ...Beatles easy ......case closed

To be fair though, most artists only have one lp that really makes ripples, I dont think MJ gave himself the label of the king of pop, elizabeth taylor introduced him as the 'king of pop, rock and soul' at some awards thing and it just sort of stuck, madonna is called the queen of pop which is even more questionable.

Isn't Madonna 150 years old? Sure feels like it.

Off the wall and Bad are considered as better than Thriller by a lot of people..Thriller was his biggest album, was it his only great one? no
as for driving crowds into hysterics, irrelevant, but all 3 of them did it

...I dont think MJ gave himself the label of the king of pop, elizabeth taylor introduced him as the 'king of pop, rock and soul' at some awards thing and it just sort of stuck... Story goes that Jackson was apparently invited to that awards show and insisted he would only appear if he received an award crowning him "King Of Pop". The show producers were so eager to please him they agreed.

Does anybody else remember that awards show when Michael went up to the podium thinking he won artist of the century but they were merely thanking him? Awkwaaaaaaaaard.
