I couldn't watch that last documentary on Channel 4 about those two men who were abused by Michael Jackson but I watched the Facking It one on Discovery+ and nothing will change my mind about him. Fair enough. I gotta say i really don't know. Some accuser backtracked and defended him saying they were manipulated by their parents. Who knows what's true in hollywood / music industry. As i said in other threads, documentaries have to be taken with caution nowadays, they don't tell the truth, they tell one side of a story. And most of the times manipulate facts to fit the narrative. I can't listen to the records anymore though, it's too disturbing. And i was a massive fan Same for Ryan Adams. It's shit really those records are tainted now. Oh yeah, I forgot about Ryan Adams ,although I wasn't a fan anyway. But with Michael Jackson there were out of court settlements too so that makes me even more suspicious of him.

It wasn't just Michael Jackson and Ryan Adams though, there's also Jimmy Saville (who's one of the worst child abusers in history), Max Clifford, Gary Glitter (who's still in prison for the third time and Rolf Harris. The latter two were good friends with Saville.

Yeah i dont know. out-of-court settlements doesn't mean guilty, although to the eye of the public it does. it means both side have agreed to financial terms and the accused has a lot of money. If the plaintiff were looking for a lot of money and the jackson clan was willing to make it go away fast, it happened. Jackson career was still going on and was still big at the time, so i guess that's why they went for the settlement. Not defending Jacko, but the truth seems to be inbetween. And we wont ever really know. Neverland has been inspected by the police, nothing was ever found. It's a weird story, the guy had a weird behavior with kids, but a pedophile ? Why parents would let their kids alone with a weirdo day and night, I dont know. God knows what else they were capable of. Same for WAGs, money money money. It's always about money.

Why parents would let their kids alone with a weirdo day and night, I dont know. God knows what else they were capable of. Same for WAGs, money money money. It's always about money. Perhaps the most interesting part of the doc (that you didn't watch) is seeing the parents twisting themselves up in knots trying to justify why they let their children into situations that absolutely screamed danger. I think we all can agree that no adult man needs to sleep in a bed with prepubescent boys, no matter what you think happened in that bed. So what possessed otherwise good parents? They were showered with expensive gifts, with financial aid, with mortgage payments and luxury vacations most can only dream about. Their children were helped with their own entertainment careers, made to feel like stars and seemed to be living their dreams. They were willfully blinded by all that. Equally, like most people, they assumed nothing bad could happen with a person who seemed loving, generous, brilliant and to really care about their children. Yet, life can be like that. Whatever you believe about Jackson, one thing that is true is that most pedophiles are not ugly monsters trolling the neighborhood snatching children into a van. They can be very nice, successful, attractive people who have a kink they fail to suppress. It's especially easy in the entertainment industry for people in power to have exploitative relationships that look like "helping." Happens to both boys and girls.

Of course money and fame is power and of course pedophiles can be charming. This is not what I’m saying. I encountered a pedophile and escaped him when I was a teenager
What I’m saying is : parents have to think two step ahead, all the time. There is no excuse and they are responsible too. When it’s too good to be true, it is too good to be true. Jacko was already a weirdo for many many years when he started those neverland kids parties.
Not saying jacko wasn’t a pedo. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t, everyone has an opinion but in the end, there is no proof. It’s really easy to twist a child memory, almost unbelievable how easy it is.

Still find Jacko’s nose (from the 90s onwards) utterly horrifying. Shudder.

On this day back in 1977, “The King” Elvis Presley sang in Indianapolis…. It was the last performance of his career.
God bless.

I have never really listened to Elvis, so watching the recent film really opened my eyes to how revolutionary he was (and even challenging to the existing social order). Not really my type of music, but it's impossible to overlook his impact.
The movie gave me a new appreciation for that quotation about "Bob Dylan set our minds free in the same way that Elvis set our bodies free". Springsteen said it I think?

The above seems written by someone who dislikes Elvis.
We wouldn't have had the Beatles....Oasis if it weren't for Elvis. The greatest cultural icon of the 20th century and the man who fused gospel, blues, country and rockabilly into rock'n'roll. Elvis could sing anything and make it his own. His charisma and impact is unsurpassed. An original. There'll never be anyone like him again. Truly legendary.

I guess the one thing The Beatles have over the other two is that they weren't nonces That settles it for me. So much talk about Jackson being a Nonce and rightly so But let's not forget Elvis was a grown man and had a teenage girl living with him when he started a relationship with her at 14. Nobody can convince me the worlds biggest rock n roll star wasn't having it away with her at that age. Even the lady herself might not say it because they're preserving an image and brand but come on.. Either way, the guy was 24 and started a relationship with a girl he knew was 14. So it's fairly clear the guy was a Nonce and had no issues being with young teenagers. Look at the photo, she's a kid www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/elvis-and-priscilla-the-first-believed-photo-they-took-together-at-14-goethestrasse-in-bad-na-in-2022--369154500717280094/

Those who point the finger the most are often most guilty. And I suppose non of the Beatles shagged 14 year old groupies.

Wasn't Ringos first wife 16 when he met her and most likely started sleeping with her. Which obviously isn't against the law but where do you draw the line? edit: she was actually 15 when Ringo me her. So not too dissimilar to Elvis 24 and 14. Ringo was 23 and 15

I guess nobody should ever report anyone eh? Besides, you do see the irony that you're pointing the finger too right? So by your own logic, you're a Nonce. Good work mastermind.

Anyway, those were different times I suppose, but it's pretty bad looking at it with standards, like the picture of Army Elvis with his girlfriend literally looking like a child. Or that young girl Jimmy Page used to tour with, she was super young too I think. Then again, it probably still happens, just behind the scenes now.

In the 90s was Jacko using cosmetic surgery to look more like… Sandra Bullock?
Upturned button nose, chin dimple, prominent cheekbones… Even his wigs at that time, voluminous and wavy black, looked like how Sandra had her hair in, say, A Time to Kill, framing a very pale and too thin face. So bizarre.
