I can't believe I've never heard of the existence of this performance until now! So pure! The uploader claims it's the first ever live performance, I can't assure it, does anybody know if that's correct?

Do you know what radio program this is from? Can track it easily that way.

Ah, wait! In the description it says : "Signal Radio Sessions, Cheshire, December 1993" Well there you have it! Almost a full year before Definitely Maybe came out. Nice one.

Ah, wait! In the description it says : "Signal Radio Sessions, Cheshire, December 1993" It was recorded by MickDude, the gentleman who recorded a lot of Oasis' early career. He is also the one who released various demo tapes. I'd trust his dates as he was pretty much on the ball with everything else from back then.

Its so hard to believe that Noel did an acoustic version of Slide Away 5 months before the first single even came out.
But, assuming the source citation is accurate - which it likely is, given it is MickDude's, then this is the first live version. Noel also did an acoustic version of Slide Away like this one for the Dave Fanning Show, Radio RTE 2FM (Ireland) on Aug 24th 1994, along with Live Forever.
The first full band version was from Aug 13th 1994 at the Hultsfred Festival, where Liam dedicated it to "the lads outta Verve".

I love the version above, but my favourite version of all time is him playing this in Chicago in 1998!

I am sceptical. Sorry. A live version of Slide Away that early? Was Noel really playing that quality of songs then? It takes time to perfect the song. By 1998 it is superb!

Hi All,
Any dates I have quoted for any recordings came from my original tapes which in the case of this came from the DJ. I still have the tapes somewhere and could dig them out if anyone's bothered. (One day).
Did I not post scans of the tape cover when I originally uploaded this?
Cheers

I gotta say , I don't like it at all. There are some songs that are just meant to be heard with Liam singing. I listened 3 times it's nice ,but I just keep hearing Liam's voice in my head sorta like how I feel if I hwould hear Keith sing " satisfaction " to mick or page kashmir to plant ....I know some of you , especially u nataliemckinney love Noel to pieces but this is one tune that's Liam absolutely made huge Edit I realize it's a demo and Noel sings Ll demos he wrote , I just think it loses so much here without Liam's spin ....sorta shuts people up here who Liam bash as great as Noel is , and he is a fucking legend. his words would not be as worldwide lauded if not for little brothers take on some of them , this is most definatly one IMO

I agree to an extent Kalas.
Liam's vocals in the early days when he was still trying to prove himself to the world were amazing.
I still love hearing Noel versions though.

Oh , hey I'm not knocking Noel , just a lot of Liam bashing here , and slide away is one those tunes that is just magical when he sings , not knocking Noel and enjoy his takes , but this is one tune to me that Liam absolutely made famous for his vocal style .....btw I see your a friend of jim , I don't believe I've ever conversed with you . But your reputation for sharing precedes you so welcome back man
