Sorry to revive such an old thread. I've been doing a bit of research about early Oasis/NG gear (more on that will follow...) and I've stumbled upon an anomaly.

Was it ever confirmed that the correct date for the Signal Radio performance of Slide Away is December 1993?

The thing is, Noel has stated on multiple occasions during the years that Slide Away was the first thing that he wrote on the Les Paul that Johnny Marr gave him. The song "almost wrote itself" one night in his bedroom at Monnow Valley: according to this statement, Slide Away was written in January 1994.

NG (@ That Pedal Show, 2023): "The first thing that I've played in the bedroom was what became Slide Away."
And again: "And I literally wrote Slide Away - not the words obviously, but the entire kind of structure of it."

By the way, Noel hadn't even got Johnny's Les Paul before the Monnow Valley sessions: Johnny "sent some guitars down" to record the album there.

Of course it could be Noel mixing facts up, but the story was told a few times during the years - and with added detail during the Pedal Show special - so it could be accurate.

I've always had the date as 31st May 1994. He also did D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman and Live Forever (with the Boo Radleys)
