Arcade Fire Share Explosive Artwork With New Album Announcement
Followup to Grammy winner 'The Suburbs' is due in October
Arcade Fire have set the release date for their fourth album. In response to a simple tweet from a fan ("You're my favorite"), the band responded, "Thanks. Our new album will be out October 29th." They included a bizarre blown-out photo with the message excerpted above and appearing in all of its collaged and overexposed glory below. As previously reported, LCD Soundsystem main man James Murphy has leant an hand in the production department, alongside the Montreal band's longtime collaborator Markus Dravs (Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, Björk). The latter worked on Arcade Fire's Grammy Award-wiFnning 2010 LP The Suburbs. The chamber-pop posse debuted some new songs at a secret gig back in December, and one called "Crucified Again" before that. In the time since, founders and front-people Win Butler and Régine Chassagne delivered an indie-rock scion unto the world — a seven pound baby boy. Butler has also announced his intent to compose a score for an independent film, Home Burial, inspired by the Robert Frost poem of the same name. Revolt TV has reported that a new single is due out September 9. www.spin.com/articles/arcade-fire-new-album-announcement-twitter-art/?utm_source=spintwitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spintwitter

Hello. Wanted to join the love u share for AF Saw them live 3 times, and those were gigs i will never forget, specially the one in Columbiahalle in Berlin, when i broke my foot jumping for setlist after the concert . I will wait for new album although maybe it's me, but Suburbs wasn't the album i expected. Neon Bible was great but I am afraid nothing will ever top the Funeral. I would like them coming back to roots, but with Murphy, i dunno, it may also wander to dance areas :/

I love how Arcade Fire's new album cover looks like Disney's Epcot Center on FIRE.

Its a picture of the Montreal Biosphere. Its not the album cover. Rumors are pointing to a 2014 tour.

It's going to be difficult not letting expectations run out of control!

It's going to be difficult not letting expectations run out of control! I can't wait to hear what James Murphy and Markus Dravs have cooked up on this album. I'd imagine it will have a LCD Soundsystem to it. Arcade Fire are usually pretty savvy when coming to promotions and keeping things a secret. I'm sure the first single will come out of nowhere on a dead August day and blow us all away.

James Murphy on new Arcade Fire album: 'It's really epic'The former LCD Soundystem man helped produce the band's fourth LPJames Murphy has spoken about the new Arcade Fire album, which he is helping produce. The former LCD Soundsystem frontman has been working on the Montreal band's forthcoming fourth album, which is due for release on October 29. The band announced the news of the record's release last week by replying to a fan on Twitter who wrote "you're my favourite". When asked if the album was finished yet, Murphy told NME: "Well, finished is... thing is, for them, it's not finished until it's in stores. My bit is done. It's not up to me when it's finished. There's a whole complement of people in that band who could have their own bands, or are a successful solo artist. They're all so phenomenally talented and full of ideas so songs keep on coming. The last time I dared think it was finished I came back to the studio three days later to mix and they'd written two new songs for the album! So it was like, uh, 'Let's record these too!' But it sounds awesome. Really." Speaking about the sound of the record, he added: "It sounds like Arcade Fire in the way that only Arcade Fire sound like Arcade Fire, you know? It's really fucking epic. Seriously. I mean, I feel at this point like I'm too close to it to really talk it up and do it justice. You know?" Back in April, the band's Win Butler and Régine Chassagne had their first child. However, Murphy said the couple never brought the new arrival to the studio. "I was outta there by the time Régine gave birth so I still haven't met the little rascal," he said. "But Régine is so incredible - she worked up until, like, the very final point she possibly could in the studio before giving birth. All of them, they're so committed to making this record." Arcade Fire released their debut album 'Funeral' in 2004. This was followed by 2007's 'Neon Bible' and 2010's 'The Suburbs'. www.nme.com/news/arcade-fire/71469#1

Should be epic.

Yeah, and aren't a few of them Bostonians as well? Always found it strange how they get marketed as a Montreal band, but I'll take it lol.

They get labelled that because the majority of members live and work in Montreal. It is sorta like the band The National. They are considered a "Brooklyn" band yet all the members were born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. They only moved to New York City to find work during the tech/web boom of the late 90s.

Stoked for this, can't remember the last time I anticipated an album so much. The Suburbs is one of the greatest albums of all time in my opinion.
A year of so much great albums, and more favourite artists to come, but this really should be the cream of the crop.

I don't think any of them are Bostonians, but Win spent a good amount of time in Boston working as a shoe-shine, I believe! That's where he first heard the Magnetic Fields who are a huge influence on him.
