An Indianian living in NY but a Boston sports fan? If you are referring to me, a couple of things. 1) I do not live in New York City 2) I am not from Indiana 3) Aren't you a NYC Heat fan living in Miami? 1. I misunderstood you. I thought you were referring to yourself. 2. I dont live in Miami. I'm 67 miles north 3. I moved to Fl at 12 and had never seen a Knick game. My father never watched sports

Hyden's perspective seems to resemble mine. He even tosses in an Oasis reference! "It’s now been nearly five months since Reflektor was released. Can the human race finally come together and admit it is the Be Here Now of the ’10s, only with less cocaine and more congas?2 Not that I was ever a fan, but the passage of time has made Arcade Fire’s “world’s biggest band” record seem only more bloated and less lovable. Whatever crimes you want to accuse Noel Gallagher of for overloading every overlong track on Now with strings, choirs, guitar solos, more strings, Johnny Depp, etc., at least he didn’t also reference Black Orpheus or launch into tiresome critiques of Internet culture. Even if you like Reflektor, can we agree that Arcade Fire could stand to be a touch less megalomaniacal on its next record?" grantland.com/features/u2-lady-gaga-arcade-fire-britney-spears-album-doctor-steven-hyden/

I think the album is brilliant - its not nearly as good as The Suburbs for me (but I didn't expect that because I LOVE that album), but it does the job. But a thing with this band is that they risk overthinking it maybe. A bit like U2 and Radiohead at their worst, it could come off as pretentious. That said, I'm not complaining too much as I can't wait to hear these songs live when they come to the UK.

I bet most of it's readers were like "Oasis had a 3rd album?". The big difference of course is one album sunk a movement and the global impact of a band, the other sprung it forward.

I think I can give the album a fair assessment after a week worth of spins. This is AF's BHN album, a collection of some of their best songs but some of the tracks go on far too long. Reflektor starts off the album with a fury and may contain the best singing by Regine on any album but after about 5 minutes in I'm ready for it it end. Just a little too repetitive. We Exist and Afterlife are the two highlights of the album for me. Can listen to those two on repeat all day. Joan of Arc and It's Never Over(Oh Orpheus) are easily the next best two songs on the album. Kinda wish It's Never Over was just Regine's song though. The first half of the song where its only her is stronger than where Win takes the song over. Didn't think You Already Know was a very good song on the first few listens but caught myself singing the chorus when I was cleaning the other day. The only real miss on the album for me is Flashbulb Eyes. The only redeeming thing about the song is that its the shortest on the album. Thought Here Comes The Night Time II was just a throw away reprise on the first few listens but now I actually prefer it to the disc 1 version. The string arrangement is a little Beatleesque and I love when that bass kicks in. Right now it's a solid B+ maybe A- for me. Not as good as Funeral or The Suburbs but better than Neon Bible.

I still don't get the hype over this pretentious monstrosity from this forum. While it got good reviews, it's clearly seen as their weakest effort: www.metacritic.com/person/arcade-fireI like the BHN analogies I've read on here. I don't get this album at all. It's pretentious, it's bloated, it has absolutely nothing to say. It actually reminds me of the way MGMT went with their 2nd album: Out to nowhere, lost in the nonsense of their own making. There are so many better albums released this year/end of last year than this utter pish posh. Most overrated album of the decade - an accolade I was sure Coldplay would win, but it doesn't seem like it. At least not on this forum. Jesus Christ.

The huuuuuuuge difference between Be Here Now and Reflektor is one album is known as a bands failure, the other pushed a band further into the spotlight. Nothing to say? Have you listened to the album? It's about love and loss. Fitting in. Death. The after life. Modern times. Unclog your ears.
