Noel is speaking out of his ass here, but I do somewhat agree with him. Reflektor is indulgent. It has its moments of brilliance, Reflektor, Here Comes the Night Tim, It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus), and Porno but i will agree with the fact that it is over stuffed. It doesn't come close to the consistent highs of funeral or the suburbs. Reflektor is kinda like Arcade Fire's BNH or White Album. It's an album that they had to make. Every band who gets that big has the right to just indulge, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time it is somewhere in between. The dress up thing, does irk me slightly but I understand that Arcade Fire is just now at the point where they need to continue to make this thing fun. They are trying to have as much fun as possible with their music and live shows. Spice things up, they've been a band now 12 year. However I feel that if Arcade Fire continues to try maybe just a little too much, that they might lose some magic that made them special. I like Reflektor its an album I'll continue to dig into and that alone is respectable, but I'm not gonna say that it is better than The Suburbs or Funeral. This album for me, is not a top ten or album of the year material. They're a great band but this is a transitional period for them and it shows with Reflektor. I agree with a lot of what you just said. I'd say Reflektor is more White Album than Be Here Now. Be Here Now wasn't really that different or experimental. It was just loud, long and on rock steroids. I would have been disappointed if they made another album like The Suburbs (which I loved). When bands reach a certain level of success or madness, they should push themselves if they are inclined to do so naturally. They have showed they are not afraid to fail or care if they do. They are simply trying to turn people on with a variety of different type of tunes. In terms of their concert experience, I'm looking forward to seeing how a dress code will work in a large arena. I think it was a fantastic idea when playing 300-500 person clubs. It really felt like a close nit party. We shall see on the big stage.

Nothing but common sense and good taste there.

I still think "Supersymmetry" doesn't need to be 11 minutes long especially since the real part of the song ends around the 5 min and 50 second mark. It's so egregious. I don't care if you play it backwards with a candle burning. Wrap it up sooner.
Gorgeous tune overall.
