according to Virgin Media blogger Matthew HortonAs Beady Eye's second album BE prepares to hit the shelves, Liam Gallagher has said he'll retire from music and put his feet up if this record doesn't do the business. Would this be such a bad thing? It could just be big talk from Gallagher Junior – Lord knows he's got the pedigree – but there's little doubt he's up against it. Reputation only gets you so far and it's starting to look as if the public isn't coming with him. In short, a sales disaster for BE, followed by Liam hanging up his mic, could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Here are five reasons why. No one likes Beady EyeIt sounds harsh, but it's basically true. Liam's amazing new band (Oasis without Noel, let's face it) have not even managed to bag a top 30 single in four attempts. And 2011 debut album Different Gear, Still Speeding barely racked up two months on the chart. Apart from the deranged Oasis hardcore, no one is buying these seismic rock'n'roll landmarks. Liam's more about the antics than the musicIt doesn't help that no one talks about the music anyway, except to scoff openly on first listen. No, people are way more interested in what Liam gets up to when he's had the odd sherry or two. He should just ditch Beady Eye and get on with the more important business of nicking Idris Elba's hat and being beastly about Mumford & Sons. Even Oasis had been a busted flush for 10 yearsAnd don't dare try to deny it. In fact, there's an increasingly vociferous school of thought that reckons Oasis lost it much earlier, the minute hapless drummer Tony McCarroll was chucked out in 1995. Essentially, it all went wrong halfway through Some Might Say. The point is, we can get all misty-eyed and pray for an Oasis reunion to rescue Liam – but that'd be just as dreary. I'll always be interested in any music Liam puts out because he wrote Songbird.

I think the: "Apart from the deranged Oasis hardcore, no one is buying these seismic rock'n'roll landmarks." somewhat contradicts "No one likes Beady Eye".

Liam should enjoy making music for the fanbase, coz that's all he's gonna get from now on. Artist in their 40s rarely gain new fans, especially when it's not the original act.

Unfortunately, this is what qualifies for wit and intelligence in writing these days.

...And coming from one who enjoys much ribbing and much schadenfreude as much as the next person, but that was just some childish soapbox haranguing-- void of even the charm and wit of the token elementary schoolground smart*arse*. Hell, some of thedon and the Ash&Debris fellow's stuff on here would have had more bite, and that's saying a lot.

How is single chartings an indication of no one liking Beady Eye? The Roller was #31. The highest charting single Arctic Monkeys got off their last album was #28. Ditto with Kasabian. Should they give up because 'no one likes them'? What bollocks. Was it 165, 000 sales DGSS got? That's Gold in the UK. A pretty respectable sales figure for 90% of bands. Admittedly, as it was Liam with his Oasis connection it would be considered poor sales, but the majority of bands out there at the mo would kill for sales of over 100, 000.

The author also said Oasis lost it before Morning Glory. His opinion is worthless.

It's just silly to say things like that though. Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian have had album sales not too dissimilar in the last few years. Should they jack it in because it didn't sweep the Brits and sell millions? Of course Beady Eye shouldn't stop making music, they have a sizeable fanbase who enjoy their music and their gigs. Who gives a shit if it isn't seminal? If NGHFB had sold 200 000 would you not want him to make another one? The author is a jackass and cleary not a fan. Inane and pointless article.

i'd like to see Liam collaborate with great songwriters if the BE album does or is no better than DGSS....a song like Scorpio Rising with Death In Vegas is probably my favorite Liam related song in the last decade or more....
God bless.
