I like the production but the lyrics and vocals are absolutely awful...

I gotta be honest, this is pretty awful, If I heard this on the radio by another band, I would turn it off right away, some of you people are far too blinded by your love of Liam and your hope that he might actually sing on a song worth listening to one of these days. This song lacks a decent hook, has no verses whatsoever, the music is muddled and Liam sounds awful. There is no energy in his delivery, in fact the only Gem written song that Liam sings on that he got right was Eyeball Tickler and this is very far removed from that. I'm sorry I feel this way I would have loved to have been blown away by this like I used to be by Liam all those years ago. This^^^

Some of us rather like it though and not because of the reason you stated.

It's a fantastic song. Liam sounds great, the arrangement is spot on, and the lyrics are fun.
And as for the whining about the chorus repeating the same lines over and over. Some of Oasis's best moments came from just that - the ends of Slide Away, Some Might Say and Live Forever for example. I dig it.
Each to their own on musical opinion but I think it's a bloody good song and I will never understand people who say 'I like the production and that's it'

It didnt much to me at first listen, but its definitely a grower... I don't think sounds like a hit or something, but Im glad the boys are doing something different from their past materials, sounds really fresh and interesting... can't say im eager to listen to the full album but FOTF and SBOTA definitely got my attention...

The people complaining about those only liking the production, should never have a complaint toward Sardy or Lillywhite "destroying" a song or making it "un-listenable". In my opinion, it works both ways. Don't only complain about the production of a song, and then say someone can't only like the production. (Not directed at you GIHM)

Still a better first single than BTL...

The first 19 seconds are absolutely brilliant. Listened to it quite a few times now and the louder, the better. Appalling lyrics but when the fcuk did that really ever matter. Can actually see this being quite popular amongst the general public.

Sounds mega. I think most of you are severly misguided and would have labeled Supersonic and Shakermaker as not being "single material" upon their first release. I'm not even sure why you post on this board. You continually find fault in every release, yet offer no blueprint as to what might actually satisfy your finicky pallate. Above and beyond, who really cares about singles anyway? Certainly not the discerning music fan. The song starts out with a great jungle vibe. Sultry bass. Tasty descending keys. Shakers. Scratch quitar. Enter yet another stellar vocal from Liam G. Single tracked. Sung with authority. Great inflection. Unique melody. Flawless. Cue the Savoy Truffle sax section and we're off. The first pre-chorus doesn't over stay it's welcome and we're right back into jungle land where the vocal adds a nice bit of aggression in verse two. Back to dirty sax and the pre-chorus before a downward spiral guitar and staccato trumpets lead into big brass and strings a huge chorus of postivity that echoes the best strains of early Oasis. Back to the scratch guitar jungle for the third verse before a breakdown highlighting the outstanding production and dirty brass. One final round of pre-chorus before the climatic build that is just the right length, doesn't overstay it's welcome, and leaves the listener wanting more. At 3 and a half minutes, Second Bite of the Apple is an exercise is brilliant songwriting delivered with passion and the best production that has ever surrounded a Gallagher brother. If this is good songwriting then I'm John Lennon.

Still a better first single than BTL... Better than BTL (which wasn't an actual single), yes. Four Letter Word? Not a chance imo. FLW was a powerful, fast, energetic rocker with an amazing intro, good chorus and guitar solo...perfect for a lead single.

Here are my thoughts:
the melody in the verse is straight up lazy and Liam's voice is way too up front. Maybe would have sounded better in the Mid 90's, and although I still have faith that he can still sing and carry some songs, in this one he just sounds kinda mediocre.
Lyrics are pretty bland, but this is BDI so thats to be expected.
Production is nice enough. Got some nice modern touches, sleek, fat bass tones, guitars sound strong if a bit "cartoonish" I like the horns. The production on the drums is pretty great as well, nice and warm but still have some crack to them.
When the chorus kicks in things get a bit better melody wise. It's pretty catchy, besides the production the chorus is really the only thing that grabs my attention, but it might be a little too repetitive. We'll see how it ages.
I'm not expecting BE to blow me away, Noel is the only one really capable of writing those songs that just make you go wow and he still cranks out his fair share of clunkers, in fact more so now that he has aged, but BE can be interesting and a fantastic live act. In fact, i think this tune will be pretty great in a live setting if Liam can pull it off. My excitement for the album is about the same as it has been since the beginning. They've released two "meh" songs, but I'm hoping there are some good to great songs on the album.

Grower.
I liked FOTF a lot more. Still, it's way better than some utter crap which was on DGSS!

you figure that the 3 of them would realize that they cant write songs by themselves and would ask the others to contribute ideas to the tunes so they'll be better

SBOTA is not in the same league as those songs so a comparison is moot.

Graceless is a cracking album. Saw them support The Charlatans back in 2008, when they were called The Ruling Class, and I was instantly hooked.

The part that saves the song for me is the second chorus (if you will) "Come onnnn...." part...that's more like it....the 'main chorus' really doesn't do anything for me, and the vocals during the verses are pretty awkward...Part of it is the lyrics, which I'm just not a big fan of...
Overall, it's gotten better after a few listens, but i did NOT like it on first listen and that is not typical for me with anything Oasis-related. Bad idea making this the single, because people are going to bash this song all over social media...not doing themselves any favors here...

It's either a reason to hate on a song or it isn't. IMO it isn't.
