those AA guys are really fucking weird.....i could imagine that album to be almost unlistenable to utterly brilliant......i dunno.
but to continue utterly useless debate, i also doubt Noel felt like doing anything else after touring and promoting HFB's for like a a year or two period, or however long it was....
God bless.

God bless. That's not the half of it. I heard the AA stuff at Black Barn whilst Noel was in there in between when the Rifles were recording their second album. It was all as out there as what we've heard. I just thought it was a fucking mess, couldn't appreciate it whatsoever. I had no idea there was 2 albums, whilst we were listening to that thinking that's never going to get any air play. There was a debate about STC/RM going on the album. I could comprehend how they could possibly go on the same record they were light years apart. But Noel was proud of it, most definitely keener promoting the AA stuff. And how different it was to anything he'd done before. It was amazing to see how much the AA pair would get away with with Noel. He gave them total creative control. But it was management who wanted the commercial HFB album. We later found out they were supposed to be alongside, to compliment the HFB album. But in the end management thought releasing it would damage the success it had already generated.

Should have done a double release Guns N Roses style.

God bless.

Just read the article. Little fun fact: Dan Auerbach was initially supposed to produce the album but he backed out. I'd love for this album to do well and have him come in for a third one. 1. Flick of the FingerA dramatically altered Beady: urgent Velvet Underground beat, blaring trumpets, fuzzy guitars and Liam proclaiming, "the future gets written today". The central riff's from a 2004 Liam/Gem demo called Velvet Building, because "it sounded like the Velvets, and it kept building." 2. Soul LoveThe anti-Wonderwall, as Liam's loved-up strum is subjected to terrifying electronics from producer Dave Sitek. Liam: The whole song fits with the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey, with the baby going to the moon. We might have to just whack it on the internet - I'm up for getting arrested, or sued.Soul Love was remodelled beneath a giant screen showing 2001: A Space Odyssey, Sitek says he didn't want to change its acoustic flavor. Sitek: But I thought, What if the guitar belonged to an austronaut who's never coming back? He's on the spaceship strumming, as his home planet get's smaller through the window. So he underlaid it with gently ominous atmospherics. Sitek: I was certain the band would say, Cut this shit out, but Liam listens to it at full volume and says, Whoever tries to cut out that ending is a fucking copper.3. Face the CrowdA terrific, gamboling riff in an odd time signature. Liam: Andy always comes up with the fucking bangers, which is weird.Andy: It's about the bravado of being in a band. I'm pretty reserved, but when you're on stage you've got to own it.4. Second Bite of the AppleA bassline like Joe Jackson's It's Different For Girls amid more fab brass and un-Oasis guitar effects. "The word is up, if you're tough enough," yowls Liam, Scott Walker's The Old Man's Back Again (from Scott 4) was an in-studio inspiration. 5. Soon Come Tomorrow"What kind of love burns holes in your heart?", wonders Liam, among worried acoustics, bewildering synths and a contrastingly hot way-wah guitar solo. Andy: It's pretty personal, about something that happened to me and Shiarra.6. Iz RiteLiam: It's like The Beatles on ecstasy, like a George Harrison-y Hare Krishna thing. Gem wrote it - I'm not saying it's fucking girly or anything, but he's definitely in touch with his feminine side at the moment.7. I'm Just SayingAndy: My gift to the Morning Glory fans - us doing what we do very well.Super catchy and, yes, Oasis-y, but with that value-added, future-now Sitek zing. 8. Don't Brother MeLiam: It's about a brother, but I do have two - and they're both fucking idiots.Step forward eldest brother Paul Gallagher. Another Liam acoustic strum, wich launches off into the deepest, darkest Sitekville on hypnotic synths and a sitar-y clang. 9. Shine A LightTremendous opening riff in the style of The Stooges circa 1969 propels this way-out-there rocker with added backwards guitar. The rhythm came from a jam over Captain Beefheart's Mirror Man. Not even remotely Dadrock. 10. Ballroom FiguredFirst recorded with full band, but when it came to Liam to overdub his voice, producer Sitek stripped it back to just acoustic guitar. Gem: It sounded amazing, so we kept it like that. That's production too- taking everything off.11. Start AnewAnother acoustic track with Liam's sweetest vocal ever. Andy: Dave coaxed the Neil Young solo out of me, and it spins into an ending that doesn't quite resolve. We never push the epic button too hard.

A lot more references to acoustic based songs than I expected. I am pretty intrigued. Hoping that the US itunes store gets the preorder stuff up soon.

Thanks a million for that! Those song descriptions sound amazing, all the talk about instrumentation and different sounds (ominous atmospherics, synths, backwards guitars) gets me more and more excited. This album is going to be a treat, full respect to the band to go full on and try something different.
The instrumental song in the video from the photoshoot really sounds like Don't Brother Me, based on this description.
And Soul Love is probably the one I expect the most.

That's interesting, Marcus Russel had resigned from his position as manager of Beady Eye during the DGSS tour!

Cheers for the track info mrsifter - I need to buy this. Looking forward to hearing the more acoustic, trippy BE songs. Don't Brother Me & I'm Just Saying intrigue me the most from those reviews.

Thanks for posting that information from Q magazne Mr. Sifter. Dan Auerbach would have been an interesting producer as well but his band is super busy at the moment too. Oh well. Sitek is the man. Also, the track I'm least excited for is "Just Saying". I don't need or want Andy writing Morning Glory era Oasis rock. He wasn't very good at that when he was still in Oasis. Let alone now. Just my opinion though.

I agree insofar the only reference BDI and Noel have about the VU is waiting for the man or white light white heat. I know the pounding drums and all are amazing, but there is too much to explore about the VU. Wasn´t Gem the one who said he didn´t like the VU in 2005?

I think they're drawing that conclusion from the opening drums. But that's a Velvet Underground thing. It's not like they've laid claim on that intro forever.

Opening paragraph:
Within a few seconds, entirely unprompted, he's bad mouthing - indeed, foul-mouthing - his elder brother Noel over the four-year-old beef that split Oasis. "Noel wanted out, man. Don't be fucking kidded," he seethes. "He always wanted to be a frontman. He loves being in the spotlight, being in charge. All that crap about (simpering voice) This has been thrust upon me, lets deal with it together. Fuck off, you've been planning it for years, you c*nt."
I hope he doesn't spend the entire promotional time for this album swearing about Noel. That doesn't make people want to buy an album.
