Noel's voice is fantastic now. In the 90s it was ok, although I loved his backing vocals. But his voice now is superb.
He puts so much emotion and passion when singing the likes of Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger. Although his album does suffer because Liam brought so much energy.
Noel is a good singer in the conventional sense, whereas Liam's vocals are unique. When combined - whether if it's Noel's backing vocals, or Noel breaking up the album and gigs with his softer approach, or when they trade off like in Acquiesce - it really works, and that's what made Oasis special.
One of my favorite backing vocals of Noel's is 1996's Cast No Shadow at Maine Road. He also delivers a lot of passion in the "Yeah yeah yeahs" of Columbia (c.f. Barrowlands 2001).
But when he's singing on his own, you can see how much the songs mean to him, it's very emotional. Even in the likes of EOTR, Freaky Teeth, and IIHAG you can hear the passion.
Non Oasis fans actually prefer Noel over Liam. I can understand why, as Liam's vocals can sound brash and whiny to the non believers.
Either way, I really like Noel's voice, but it works better in tandem with Liam's - hence Oasis.
Beady Eye and Noel's High Flying Birds will never reach the heights of Oasis until they unite and reform.
They truly do need one another.

I kinda hate his voice actually. But I do like Morning Glory at Earls Court a lot.

Even though NGHFB is a great album, a whole album with Noel vocals doesn't do it for me, it bores me a little.

Even though NGHFB is a great album, a whole album with Noel vocals doesn't do it for me, it bores me a little. I agree, Noel in small quantities is fantastic like on my iTunes library, Sad Song is straight after Definitely Maybe and Noel's voice is refreshing after nearly an hour of just Liam but after a half hour or so, Noel's voice loses some of it's appeal for me. Full respect to Noel for sounding so consistent well into his forties though...

Yeah, it's amazing how much he has improved with age. In the above youtube version of Wonderwall at TCT 2010 you SEE the emotion, he's giving it everything. While I do acknowledge that we need Liam involved (see my prior post above), Noel can handle rockers, too (c.f. Freaky Teeth). Frankly, I don't think I have ever heard a bad performance from Noel, ever. He was a bit shaky in the 90s, and he still needs to work on TIOBI and LBL as the verses tend to be too quiet, but overall Noel performs exceptionally well every time, this is especially true from 2002 to the present. It's actually amazing how consistently good he has been, and how much he improves as the years go by. Is it even possible for him to improve anymore from where he is now? I really don't see how, but imagine if it even gets better than what it is. I'm team Oasis. I like Beady Eye, but I prefer Noel more. Noel has comes such a long way, I love seeing how he has matured but still gives his opinions in a frank and witty way, and his song writing is second to none. Love it. Now reform, god damn it.

I don't know whether I agree with Noel peaking as singer in the mid-naughties, I think he always had a good voice on songs like Sad Song and some of the earlier he sounds great and DLBIA is a such a great, youthful vocal that really shows what oasis were all about. I just think he has grown in confidence when he sings live now so he can replicate his good studio vocals in front of a crowd.
