"So Sad About Us" covered by The Jam (The Who) "Suck" covered by The Twilight Sad (The Wedding Present) "Hounds Of Love" covered by Futurehaeds (Kate Bush) "Confetti" covered by Frightened Rabbit (The Lemonheads) "I'll Feel A Whole A Lot Better" covered by The Coral (The Byrds)
I love to listen to my favourite songs covered by my favourite bands.
I was a huge The Smiths and The Jam fan (still am)far before I got into Oasis. One day I found The Jam's "Carnation" covered by some band called Oasis on winmix (god, do you still remember?), so I downloaded and listened. I quite liked it.
Then another day I found "To Be Someone" covered by someone called Noel Gallagher. I downloaded it and listened to it again and to be honest, I didn't like it cos to me it was quite dull, nothing like the original.
Later I read that those my 2 life time bands had a huge influence for young Noel Gallagher, then many years later he covered "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out".
The Smiths and The Jam "introduced" me Oasis. Well done, lads.

Now this may be cheating because I know he didn't record this on any lp at all but
But back in 81 or 82 at the then Brendan Byrne arena now I think the call it continental center It will always be the MEADOWLANDS TO ME
but Springsteen was ending a five plus hour show with
HOT IN THE CITY
And it was summer in New York / jersey and the house lights on not a soul left building not a ass sitting down. The boss played that for like 15 minutes as each member left the stage ... Freakin awesome

Pretty much all the Beatles covers on their early records. There's a few exceptions but they generally appeal to me more then the originals.

mimmihopps - other way round for me, Oasis introduced me to The Jam and The Smiths. And the Pistols and the Who also. Beatles, stones, kinks and the rest. If not for Oasis i dare to think what sort of music i would be into right now.

The Smiths and The Jam "introduced" me Oasis. Well done, lads. Not gonna put a song in this one just say well put Mimi ! Back in the 80s my best friend Carl and I were the only ones in our very large group into anything but the usual suspects ( which we loved. No bigger BEATLE fanatic than he and . No bigger zep fanatic than I ) But we were drawn to punk together as pre teens and that evolved into searching the record baron for something other than the stones , who ect ect ... And we stumbled UPon gold ! The jam , then the smiths , and of course the clash ...all our friends thought we were to. English and didn't get it til much much later ...that put us ahead of the curve for music cred in our group and when we said check out this lot OASIS they did and they to were in it from the beginning .. Had it not been for the jam ,and the smiths , and clash ,, we never would have been ahead of the curve with oasis. Even though I was in UK at the time it was the earlier music that drew me there way Well done indeed ! Thanks MIMI. Too keep this on topic Stand by me - John Lennon So did puta song in afterall

A great, great, great man. Back to the topic: A motown classic covered in a completely different way by 2 English brilliant bands: In The Midnight Hour - The Jam (they've also done a great cover of an another Motown classic, "Heatwave") In The Midnight Hour - Roxy Music
