I like Sunday Morning Call a lot to be honest, Noel has got his high standards so he dishes it a quite a bit. I disagree with him on that though but that being said it's in no way better than all the songs on the High Flying Birds album. That album is full of songs of a much higher caliber than SMC.

Listen to the commentary by Noel over SMC on the Time Flies dvd. His reaction to the song is pretty funny. He proper hates it.

This I like Sunday Morning Call even though many people don't. The lyrics are meaningful and the melody is quite beautiful. But I had the opposite reaction to you, nahuel89p--I actually like the HFB album the more I listen to it. There were a few songs that were instant classics to me, like Everybody's On the Run and If I Had A Gun, and then I listened to the album a few more times and saw the songs performed live and that was it. Fan. 100% I totally know what you mean, man! Listen to Lyla with Noel's vocals, there's just no balls attached at the bottom. I would personally have loved and given many things up to hear Liam sing those High Flying Birds tracks. =[

I fell off the couch when I first heard that. I was laughing for hours. I also quote him a lot from the commentary on that track. "Some people are just fucking stupid....." He says this when he finds out it's one of Oasis' biggest selling singles :3

Is it just me or do Liam and Noel call each other "Rkid" I have seen in interviews Liam reference Noel as "Rkid" and of course I have seen Noel do so with Liam. Is it just me or do they have the same nickname for one another?

I think it's just a nickname they made between them!

When I looked online once it said a way of referring to younger brothers. But as you have said Liam also uses it for Noel and Noel uses it for Paul.

I don't think SOTSOG needed Sunday Morning Call and Where Did It All Go Wrong on the same album, especially one after the other. I prefer the latter, especially the demo version. I think there are other songs at the time with a bit more charm than SMC that could have made it. I don't really enjoy a lot of the songs on High Flying Birds so don't object to the opening post but that's not to say it's a particularly good song.

Hmm.. interesting. Didn't know before why they'd refer to each other as "our kid" and just thought it was a thing special to Oasis Like many others on this thread I don't think NGHFB is behind SMC at all, however I do agree with the OP that the solo album is definitely not a grower but rather the opposite. It was utterly enchanting for a while but then I realized the only songs in there that I really listen to nowadays are Everybody's On The Run and If I Had A Gun. And the former is also starting to become boring to me although the latter still amazes me. Think it's the problem with the rather bland production.. Cancelling the AA release is fine for me but I do with they ditch Sardy on their second work and find someone who can actually contribute something to the process.

Think it's the problem with the rather bland production.. Yes, yes, yes. But the songwriting isn't agressive either, no solos, too much poppy voice. It's Noel Gallagher minus Rock n roll. It's like decaffeinated coffee. Or beer without alcohol. It will remind you of something that has always been good. But at the same time i won't get you high.

that France tv show setlist is brilliant. Go Let It Out (epic) I Can See A Liar (rockin) Sunday Morning Call (fucking beautiful)
and Liam is on fire, man.

Not a highlight off the album for me but probably deserved to be played more live on the SOTSOG tour. Only a handful of Japan shows, tv appearances and acoustic promos. Not enough material from that album was performed live. A shame really.

I think SMC is the worst single they ever released. B side material for me.
I understand your point nahuel89p, but I think ANY song from the Oasis era would have been a highlight on HFB just because it wouldn't follow the typical structure of the songs from the album. I mean every song on HFB follows almost the same pattern, the vocals are very similar and the drums are almost the same (not saying that is a bad album, just cohesive) so any song that doesn't fit on that scheme would have been a highlight. Imagine WDIAGW with the organs, drums and that solo. Or LBL, Idlers Dream...

Good one, keep improving the quality of the community. While I disagree with the idea that the above could be a legitimate retort . . . it did make me laugh.
