I'm going to curb my enthusiasm until I see a setlist. This is Noel Gallagher we are talking about. Not Pearl Jam. Variety isn't one of his traits. Can you iagine Noel playing very song he ever recorded (plus a few more!) like PJ?? No obviously, but we can at least imagine it! I for one would just like to see him try songs he hasn't rehearsed to death. That is why I love seeing Pearl Jam in concert. No two setlists are ever the same and any song off any album could be played at your show. They must play well over 150 songs a tour plus awesome covers. They are the benchmark for variety and fan friendly.

Well, that like your opinion........man. The strength of the songs isn't the point. The point is they are a wild card every night. Fans are rewarded with random songs, ranging from 32-35 a concert. Imagine Oasis doing that? This place would have exploded in excitement back in the day.

I get your point though mate, Oasis doing that back in the day would have been fucking epic. Maybe thats why Pearl Jam are rated so highly then, must be because it cant be on the strength of their tunes.

I'm looking forward to their new LP this year. Stone says it will be "experimental". Another Vitalogy?

I actually think Pearl Jam are amazing. I only have two albums of theirs (Black and Vs.) but I thoroughly enjoy both of them. Eddie Vedder is a great singer and Indifference is a masterpiece. Their appeal lies in the fact that the music isn't all that bleak and depressing - the usual ingredients for grunge music - which incidentally is probably why they get slated by some because they don't strictly apply to the genre in my opinion. I honestly don't see that as a problem, in fact a big advantage on my behalf.

Roll with it acoustic? I could see Lord Don't Slow me Down and Falling Down added to his list.

Lead singer smokes and drinks likes it's going ouy of fashion and his voice is still remarkable. Cautionary tale for singers not to do coke i guess. PJ's quality of albums is also remarkable, first 5 all amazing then the rest more DOYS than DBTT if you know what i mean. Live though they make Oasis look childish, even if they never bring the intensity an oasis crowd brings. They actually reward their fans for going to muliple shows - imagine that! Also their variety never lets them down, brillaint bunch of musicians. A quick google of the 2009 tour says that in the first 20 shows they played 117 different songs. I would imagine oasis haven't played 117 different songs on every tour ever.

I would rather a band played their one and only good song again and again than hours upon hours of god awful dross, but maybe thats just me.

You keep going on and on about the arctic monkeys and Alex Turner. Get a room or find a monkeys forum. People are just sharing their opinions on a forum, imagine that? You've had no problem sharing yours on the monkeys, miles kane and pearl jam. Here is another opinion for ya: Pearl Jam >>>> Arctic Monkeys

The world is filled with great music. Life doesnt start and stop by the gospel of the Gallagher brothers. If people like Pearl Jam great. The monkeys? Cool. There is no need to mock others for their opinions on a forum, the definition of opinion.

Not my cup of tea in the slightest i must say, much prefer the gospel of the Gallaghers and i respect their opinions on other bands as they often match my own.

The Arctic Monkeys wish they could write an album as good as Ten.
Why has the forum become an Arctic Monkey's love fest all of a sudden?

Pearl Jam DOES make Oasis look childish when it comes to a tour setlist. I would much prefer the PJ style of concerts over Oasis playing the same 18-20 song setlist every night with little variety. Who wouldn't want a 30+ song setlist that covers a bands entire career? Or that no two shows are never alike? Or that the lead singer still sounds the same as he did 20 years ago while still drinking and smoking on stage? Or that you can download professionally recorded bootlegs of every gig on their tour? I guess you are right. Gimme Oasis' no variety setlist for 15 months.

Why has the forum become an Arctic Monkey's love fest all of a sudden? Oh yeah i bet they do, just dont think they will ever be crap enough to actually achieve it though. Takes a special kind of band to make every song unlistenable shite.
