In your Honor and Stadium Arcadium needed cutting down badly, if you think they are great i feel for your ears. Bruce springstein The River is a great double album. Mellion Collie is a great album and Smashing Pumpkins never got near to it since. I suppose opinions vary, because, for me, there are only like 2 or 3 good tracks off the 2nd half of Mellon Collie. But I still love the album as a whole. You made my point though . . . all Double LP's should have been cut down. Too much fluff, not enough stuff. ah not everyone Exile on Main Street and Sign of the Time i wouldn't cut a track from either. It's rare for a Double Album to really have every track to be great. Yeah opinions vary which why i love Music cause it always leads to great discussion. Mellion collie has more then three great tracks imo.

There are a few tunes in there that I wouldn't have issue cutting to make a more normal album length. I like all these tracks, but not all of them are "album" worthy really. A revised version especially made for Jit's listening pleasure: 1. Back In The USSR 2. Dear Prudence 3. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 4. Happiness Is A Warm Gun 5. Martha My Dear 6. I'm So Tired 7. I Will 8. Yer Blues 9. Sexy Sadie 10. Helter Skelter 11 Revolution (Single Version) 12. Savoy Truffle 13. Hey Jude No Everyones got something to hide except me and my Monkey, Mother's nature son, Why don't we do it in the road?, Julia,Blackbird, Birthday. The only tracks i would leave of The white album would be Goodnight, Revoultion 9, Honey Pie,Piggies and don't pass me by. Perfection if you take away that muck.

Some of mine are:
The White Album (obviously) Exile On Main Street All Things Must Pass (I know it's a triple album but it's still somewhat relevant to the thread) Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs Tommy Quadrophenia Blonde On Blonde
But my absolute number one has to be The Wall. I know it's a Waters ego fest which puts some people off but as a concept album/rock opera there are few finer. Some of the themes about Waters personal horrors I find fascinating. The artwork is great too.
I'd also like to clear up the exact definition of a double album. For example, five of Oasis' albums were split onto two LPs but only one CD. Where does that leave them?

The best double album I've heard personally is The River by Bruce Springsteen.
