RIP Stephen Ward, not a good way to die. Especially when he was 70 for Christs sake!

Watched a documentary on how Dutch music is doing abroad and what makes it different from music out of other countries. Was pretty good, and one of my favourite radio DJs made it.

Interstellar was a pretty good film. Very creative.
Also, I watched Marco Polo, the new series about 2 weeks ago. That was decent, a little hard to keep track of the characters though.
About to finish rewatching Hemlock Grove Season 2 in the next day or so.

I watched Under the Skin yesterday. What a interesting and challenging movie. Its a subtle sci-fi thriller with strong art house influences. It stars the lovely and wonderful Scarlett Johansson (who also appears nude in the film for the boys who are curious). She gives one of the best and most subtle performances in recent memory with regard to her character. Basically Johansson is an alien who lures men. The meaning of the film can definitely get lost if you're not paying attention. Will probably rewatch it sometime in the future. It is a different movie for sure and isn't for everyone. Not a lot of dialogue. I'm pretty sure Beady’s Here Now has written longer posts on here than what was said in the film, but it brilliantly shot. Interstellar is the only film in the past 6 months that I've seen that rivals this film's cinematography. Interstellar's shots leave you breathless and wide eyed but this movie's cinematography haunting and organic.

No cinematography or director. At lease it got a music nomination. I love the score. Nolan's snub streak continues.

Zimmer's score really did lively up a lot of those scenes and shots at least they got that. Still I'm amazing they didn't get anything for cinematography. It was one of the best cinematic experiences that I've ever had. Oscars are becoming worse and worse as the years go on it seems. Maybe I'm just getting older. Seems like most of the wins are some sort of "lifetime achievement" award. He'll probably win in 25 years after he's prime, although I have hope that he'll continue to be one of the best in the biz.

Johnny Marr cameo appearance on Portlandia! (season 2) Johnny Fuckin' Marr! didn't expect that at all. Didn't he live in Portland for a while during his Modest Mouse days?

I watched The Theory of Everything last night (you know, the movie about Stephen Hawking). I liked it, it was good! I would have appreciated a deeper insight on physics, but here's the science geek me talking Eddie Redmayne really deserves the Oscar for his portrayal of Hawking, it was an awesome performance. And Felicity Jones has become my latest girl crush, she's enchanting (her eyes steal the show every time she's on scene). The soundtrack was brilliant too: I smell an Oscar here... it's the kind of score that the Academy might like. But Zimmer's Interstellar deserves to win this time (and it probably won't, because the judges are a batch of fuckers )

Was it any better than last week? There were some good fights. Tate had her orbital bone broken in the first but was tough enough to win in three. Diaz clowned around and got pummeled but Silva didn't look great. The fight the other week was more memorable though. I didn't expect Gustafson to get destroyed like he did.
