I have a feeling this Mark "Spike" Stent news of him mixing the new Beady Eye album is 90% true. After looking over his twitter page I discovered the following re-tweet on his timeline from February 5. Which in english says: New album by beady eye in the final stages of mixing, made by Mark Spike Stent, the same of "Standing On The Shoulders of Giants". I highly doubt Mark would re-tweet news like that if it was false. Just my opinion but I doubt he would do that. He also tweeted on February 3rd that he is not in America currently but very "busy" in the UK. twitter.com/markspikestentCool, thanks for that.

the mixing on SOTSOG is pretty decent, but as a whole I didn't really enjoy the sound of that album compared to others

I always thought the sound/production of most Oasis albums left a lot to be desired. Most notably DM/MG/BHN/HC and DBTT to a lesser extent...SOSOG is far and away the most crisp sounding Oasis album with DOYS as the runner up. Ironically MP would be 3rd despite it being just a compilation.

SOTSOG is the best sounding Oasis album to me. Morning Glory badly needs a 2015 remaster because it sounds dreadful.

I'd love to hear Spike Stent remix Morning Glory. And then get it mastered properly so I can listen to it through good headphones without dying in agony.

A remaster and remixing of MG would be interesting as there are loads of bits lost in the mix, BUT, it would lose its charms, especially tracks like Morning Glory or Hey Now, that would sound a lot clearer, less muddy, and they would lose their originality i think.

I agree it's one of the best selling albums ever in the uk and oasis' biggest 'stamp' on music worldwide. Oasis always been manc/northern scallies etc so lets leave their music as that it's never been music for audiophiles but the masses

My personal preference would be to hear a remaster of Morning Glory, rather than a remix (for that there's the SACD); I would argue that the rough-edged wall of sound is inherent in the recording - what an audiophile remaster could offer would potentally be a more punchy, dynamic presentation of the same mix. This has been done with a vinyl reissue of Californication recently, to great effect. That loses none of the character of the original. Just my 2p worth of speculation... I guess in 2015 we'll get a deluxe edn of MG, remastered w/bonus tracks. Just so long as Bonehead's take of BBH is on there

I'm kinda hoping the new Beady Eye single has a similar feel to "The Shock of The Lightning". You know, fast paced, driving, modern and having an electronic twinge to it. I think Dave Sitek will help in this regard. #Forward

Four Letter Word showed that they are capable of it. absolutely. they have much more of that rock/punk mentality, but they need to be pushed. there were songs on their first album that sounded lazy, almost complacent. they have it in them to write a great record, so hopefully sitek pushes them out of their comfort zone and into more uncharted territory. i'd go far enough to say that i'd prefer them trying something new and failing instead of having a mediocre record that's more of the same. (that's why it was so frustrating to hear HC after SOTSOG. it was one step forward and two steps back.)

I believe Dave Sitek will have pushed them to develop better song structures, polish off trite/cliche lyrics and be open to change in sonic landscape. I see no other reason why a guy like that was brought in unless it was for change and a different perspective. I've long admired his work with TV On The Radio and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so for me, this pairing is awesome! I know a lot of people don't want to hear this but I believe this album is crucial to Beady Eye's survival. If the critics don't like it, if people don't buy it and tour attendance falls, I'm not sure what is going to happen next for the band. I'm obviously not rooting for that to happen but I do think it weighs on their minds, especially Liam. Looking forward to the new single.......whenever it drops............... *************** This Message Was Not Approved By tomlivesforever *****************

Maybe the deal was for DGSS only? And they are looking for another record label?

They probably got dropped like a bad habit for doing very little business in America. It is a brutal time for record companies and physical distributors. You gotta play for pay these days.

I'll start saving up now lol

I think they took a bit of a knock when they released DGSS expecting sold out concerts, #1 album etc and had to take it on the chin. Specially then when Noels album came out which was huge and sold out tours for a year etc. However i've heard all the hype before about Oasis albums 'best one ever, best since WTSMG' etc and i dont take that seriously. So hearing all the hype i'm not believing it, of course i hope its a huge hit, i really do but i must admit i'm really looking forward to it. If this new albums not huge it'll be interesting to see what he does next. I really hope its a success, cant wait to hear it

Even a critical success won't help them at this point. Beyond his fanbase, Liam Gallagher is not a popular man.

When Liam says he was mixing it 'down the road' he meant my local town. Drove back from uni at Bristol when my mate text me saying he was in the pub, but when I got there he had gone back to the studio/house next door. Biggest let down ever. He had been frequenting the pub every night that week. Fucking annoying.

Mixer was Mr Spike Stent who you may recall produced SOTSOG incidentally.

Just read the thread properly and realise the Stent thing has been brought up. He is mixing it. I used to work in the aforementioned pub and have posted about Stent coming in from time to time and asking him about the 'needs a bit more' whatever it was in Gas Panic. He lives in Downton and Beady Eye (or at least Liam was confirmed) were there, presumably mixing the album. The video of that lad interviewing Liam is in Totton or Brockenhurst, colleges about 20 mins from Downton
