Same as eva. I always skip Soldier Boys and Stop the Clocks too. Stop The Clocks was a big disappointment when I listened to it for the first time when I bought the album last year. I said to myself "Is it THE song we've been waited for so long?"
Everybody's On The Run is a fantastic opener for the album.

i like all the songs except If I Had A Gun - boring, Stop The Clocks - not well produced, Record Machine - ok, not that good, the only song i think Liam could've done better in this day and age.
God bless.

Every single song on the album is great. I think Record Machine and Stop the Clocks are better than the demos. Record Machine is spine-tingling at the "you can't give me a reason" part, and Stop the Clocks is beautiful. Great album! In your opinion...

Stop The Clocks is horrible and Record Machine sounded better in demo form, a missed opportunity even though it isn't bad.
SBAJF is quite weak but even though I don't personally like the album there's no doubt the writing is relatively strong and the production is decent if inoffensive.

I can't believe it's been nearly a year since its came out and i'm still loving it. Normally after a few months i get sick of an album, It's definitely the best album Noel's done since Morning glory for me.

None of the tracks scream out as being horrible. Some are a little safe. RM could have been boosted it sounds a little to delicate for my liking but its still a good song nonetheless. Soldier Boys And Jesus Freaks is pretty great in my opinion. It's got great lyrics, nails the kinks/beatles vibe, and its dark/moody. DO is good but it goes on too long. WAL is missing a guitar solo but is a great track. Would love if Noel kept doing something like this. The production is spot on, on that track. BA is great. SOTWB is solid nothing really special and a track that could have been better with Liam but its a solid rocker. IIHAG, TDOYAM, EOTR are the clear highlights for me off the album.
AOTR is one of Noel best and I hope it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. The production on that is great as well.
I would have preferred if ASGOG closed the album but you can't always get want you want.
Overall its the most consistent effort from a Gallagher since WTSMG in my opinion. It is excellently crafted, Noel is back on form in terms of songwriting. The production is hit (WAL, TDOYAM) and miss (IIHAG, RM) but I play the album all the way through and its an enjoyable listen. One of the best releases last year.
I'm past expecting Noel to deliver something absolutely mind blowing (a true "classic" album) at this point in his career but he is in my opinion his generations finest melodist and well crafted songwriting with touches of his signature magic is something that will always give me goosebumps and will inspire people. This doesn't mean I want him to be "safe" with his songwriting. I'd love for him to work with other artists and explore sounds but I think he know is wise enough to realize if something is shit. With him regaining his songwriting ability and quality control I expect/hope him to settle into a new niche of releasing just great albums and HFB's is hopefully the start of this trend.

^ASGOG is definitely way too good to be a bonus track. I definitely prefer it to SBAJF, Stranded and Dream On, at least...would it have killed Noel to make it an 11-track album with ASGOG as the penultimate track? But, you know, Noel Gallagher...that's what he does...

I'm not sure why but I always wanted Noel to do one with Nigel Godrich. Similar to what Beck did with him but less depressing.

Think of the buzz that would create - the 90s archenemies writing an album together ;D

Although I'm not sure that Godrich's aesthetic would necessarily work with Noel's style of songs, I like the way you think.

Sadly the exact opposite happened to me. I really really liked the album when it came out. I think I gave it a 8/10. But now one year later I don't listen to it at all. Well, EOTR and IIHAG every now and then. Extremely rarely. Overall the album is pretty boring imo. Compared to Oasis albums? Pretty much at the bottom (I think I only like HC and DBTT less). I don't know why tho. Maybe I just don't have the feeling for it atm and it'll come back in a few weeks/months. :/

I'd Pick You Every time on the album? Really? Am I the only one who thinks that it's one of the worst songs ever released by the Gallaghers? I never listened to it again after october last year...

Really like :
Everybody's On The Run AKA... What a Life! (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach A Simple Game of Genius Alone On the Rope Let The Lord Shine a Light On Me Freaky Teeth (Demo) Shoot A Hole Into the Sun
The UNKLE reworks are also very good.
Good / Could be better :
If I Had a Gun... Dream On The Death of You and Me Stop the Clocks
Not having at all :
The Good Rebel Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks AKA... Broken Arrow Record Machine (Oasis demo / session version is much better) I'd Pick You Everytime (SHITE)
Not listened to the album all the way through for quite a while, maybe better production on some songs and a different track listing may have suited me personally but I guess that's what iTunes playlists are for.

Love your signature, bringitondown1 Funny how many people dislike Record Machine. It's in the album's top three songs for me, possible #1...sure, the guitar solo and bass part are worse, but the choir and strings really add to it as well. It would be interesting to see what people think is the best song on the album...IIHAG, EOTR, AKA...BA or TDOYAM should win, I guess.

I'm not a fan of the production on If I Had a Gun... and I think it lost it's soul after a year of listening to it. Dream On is a good live track but it goes on too long on record and The Death of You and Me bores me.

it is interesting to see everyone's take on the songs...for instance i think I'd Pick You Everytime is one of the better HFB songs.
i don't think there's any classic songs on the album but there are some really good ones.
God bless.

I think you're way off. I think it's a great little track with a sneaky good melody-sweet and understated. Nice nod to Nashville Skyline era Bob Dylan without the annoying Dylan impression from Mucky Fingers. To each his own. I think The Good Rebel sucks and am unmoved by LTLSALOM. Many people would disagree. I'm sure... The Good Rebel is nothing special at all, it gets boring after a couple of listens. I really love LTLSALOM though! But I still think that I'd Pick You Every Time is crap. Just not my cup of tea, maybe...

Pick You is a nice bside, i love it, but i wouldnt see it on the record. Or better produced. The vocals are cut badly.
