I loved the album when it came out, instant 9/10 (or thereabouts). But I didn't care for WAL - thought it could have been more developed, Dream On - found it a bit annoying, SBAJF - The "Hey Now" of the album....
But all three have grown on me greatly. Especially WAL.
I know it's mid tempo, I know we all crave for Liams snarls and the energy he brings, but as far as song writing and delivery goes, this is a Noel masterpiece.
That being said, I still want the proper, full blown, guitar laden, epic that RM was suppose to be......
This is Noel's strongest collection of songs since WTSMG/The Masterplan. No weak track. Amazing.

I didn't really care for Dream On at first either but it definitely grew on me.

I'd like to add that Dream On is by far the funnest of all the songs to play on an acoustic. I think that it's a track that gets suffocated a bit by its own production, but it's still a good song.
I'm not crazy about STC, but as losingmyhead mentioned, that doesn't mean that its a bad song. It's still a solid and sometimes very good song.
SB&J and WAL have been great growers for me. Especially WAL. I thought it was pretty good when it first came out, but it's definitely become one of my favorite tracks from the album. SOTWB is also a great song. Always thought of it as Hello's little brother.
IIHAG, EOTR, RM, BA, and TDOYAM are some of Noel's best songs in sometime. They would all be album highlights on any of the post 2000 album. Which is what makes HFB's so good. You get better quality album highlights along with better quality supporting tracks. I believe it's better than all the post 2000 albums because of those highlights and consistency. And in terms of songwriting, it's his 3rd most consistent effort.

I definitely like it of course, but (along with DGSS) not as much as any Oasis album.
EOTR is a great song but something about the production grates on me. I appreciate what they were trying to do but I think a more stripped down approach would have been more suited to the song. The soundcheck version is too basic but I really hope to hear a strong acoustic/electric version. The album version sounds a bit too 'dramatic' for my liking. Something more in the vein of the DBTT songs I think would be ideal.
Dream On has terrific verses and build up but the chorus is pretty limp. The only other Oasis song to leave such a mixed impression on me is SCYHO.
Record Machine is really nowhere near as good as the DBTT sounding demo as well, I think the production is again overdramatic and drowns out this jewel of a song.
Stranded is good but something in the production keeps it from really coming alive the way it does in concert. It comes across a little underwhelming and somewhat generic (for the lack of a better word).
SBAJF, the two AKAs, IIHAG, TDOYAM, and STC (love the outro solo) are just perfect the way they are. The rest leave a little something to be desired still.

The album version of Stop The Clocks is utter shite, its a shame he never really got it right. The rest of the album is amazing though in my opinion. I've been listening to it in the car ever since it came out, I think my family are sick of it by now. I cant wait for the demos.

Stop The Clocks. I've only listened to this twice since I got the album, boring as hell in my opinion, put freaky teeth in somewhere and put SOTWB last and you've got an album with no weak tracks definitely.

STC succeeds in one place where some Oasis songs like Fade In/Out and It's Getting Better (Man!!) have failed. It builds up gradually and then explodes into that solo and finishes, so while I'm not a massive fan of it I appreciate the structure. There's been no growers for me because the entire album captivated me, after a year I can fairly say it's my third favourite Noel related album.
Just a question, how come people class Masterplan as an album, I thought it was just a load of b-sides the fans voted for, you wouldn't count B-sides, Seasides and Freerides by OCS as an album would you?

Stop the Clocks is the album's masterpiece - what a way to end!
Dream On, however, should have been replaced by a true studio version of Freaky Teeth. That would be one heck of an album.

It's never been very far from my car's CD player since I bought it.
Dig Out Your Soul lasted a couple of months, and the less said about Different Gear the better.

no weak tracks , just weak vocals, that make many tracks finally sound weak. call Liam please and you are gonna have the best album since 1995

The only thing I would change is taking maybe 30-60 seconds off of the ending from Dream On. Other than that I like it all, nothing weak for me. I prefer these versions of Record Machine & Stop The Clocks, but can see why people prefer the demo versions that came out a while back.

Dream On and Soldier Boys are rubbish. The rest is brilliant (including the proper b-sides etc)

Love Broken Arrow and The Death of You and Me
Really like What A Life, Soldier Boys and The Wrong Beach
Quite like If I Had a Gun and Everybody's on the Run
Don't mind Dream On
Don't like Record Machine
Can't stand Stop the Clocks

The ending of Dream on is too repetitive. I always skip Soldier Boys and Stop the Clocks. The rest a rest are great songs to me. I love Broken Arrow and Wrong Beach.

Stop the Clocks is worth listening to for the last minute alone IMO. Always puts a smile on my face. If I Had A Gun, The Death Of You And Me, Record Machine and What A Life are a fantastic consecutive run of songs, EOTR is an epic opener, Broken Arrow is my favorite on the album, SBAJF, Dream On and Stranded aren't quite up there with the rest but still way above average. It's true, there are no fillers on there and the album still holds up pretty well after nearly a year.

Why the hate/dislike for STC? That song is absolutely beautiful, and well exceeds the demo. I can see how it could be a bit on the boring side, but Noel's vocals are magically delicious (no homo).
The biggest grower has to be Dream On, and it has only gotten better. I think the one lacks the most is WAL. Not that it lacks imagination, but I think the fact that it's kinda "out there" and leaves room for more ideas makes the album version a bit underwhelming. It has a good vibe, but no sense of direction. Falling Down kinda suffers the same fate in some ways. There's a driving force behind it, but no substance.
Overall, I absolutely agree that the album as a whole is a true work of art. The choir may be a bit much, but it utilizes well where it is used.

Every single song on the album is great. I think Record Machine and Stop the Clocks are better than the demos. Record Machine is spine-tingling at the "you can't give me a reason" part, and Stop the Clocks is beautiful. Great album!

I could not be more pleased with how Noel's debut album turned out. I've been spinning it nonstop since last October and like someone else mentioned, it is in constant rotation in my car. Noel's best collection of songs in over a decade for sure. Adding Freaky Teeth would have been icing on the cake though.
The song I listen to the least oddly enough, is the one I wanted to hear the most between 2001 and 2008...Stop The Clocks. Maybe it is because we all had the demo for 3 years before the "finished" version finally appeared but I think it has more to do with the song's production. To my ears it just doesn't sound right. The mellotron sounds thin and artificial. The guitar solo is great but overall I feel the tune is lacking something. Not sure what. If anything Noel should have made A Simple Game of Genius the final song and had Stop The Clocks be a hidden track 3-4 minutes after the official album ends.

Its a great set of songs but i cant listen to it without thinking it would sound much better with Liam on some of tracks, even if it it his 2011/2012 voice, its still a better voice than Noels for some of the tracks. I know some of you will be annoyed with this but its how i feel when i listen to the album as a whole. If i listen to each track individually with a couple of other songs inbetween it sounds great but as a whole there is too much of Noels voice for it to be considered a classic. IMO of course.
