I'll probably get a lot of flack for this but who gives a fuck. At the start of the tour i tought he was gonna play Bonehead role but after he catched up with all songs he really does great fills in them and has a dirty guitar sound that I love on occasions. His guitar playing reminds me of early Oasis. Also he doesnt play every note record perfect and that is what I love about him even though Gem's playing is tehnically a lot better and he has an epic stage presence and groove. 3,2,1, murder starts ;D Stay safe use paper bags

He'd receive a bit more praise if he wasn't so low in the mix. He's the lowest in the mix of all the HFB's.
Though I'd still take Gem, however tbf, Gem's greatest attributes have come with time. Tim Smith is a first time lead guitarist. By time Gem left Oasis, he had already been a suitable lead for 10 years plus. Also him and Noel had amazing chemistry that also took time to build (it took about 3 years and really kicked into high gear because of STC tour).

Listen to the TITP gig he's mixed higher in that than I've heard so far. Really gives a good idea of what he's doing. I think LTLSALOM would sound 1,000 times better live if he was higher in the mix.

Gem's got style, groove, attitude, and rock-solid skill and sound - Gem all the way. But this guy's great in his own way, Q Mag called him something different though - is he even called Tim Smith? I'll see if I can find what they said his name was in an interview...

Yeah, I noticed that he was higher up during T. And I agree about LTLSALOM. I can barely hear what the hell he's playing in the solo bit.

We should give more time to Mr. Smith and get to know more about his guitar work. Gem already has quite some pages in his history.

Gem... Of course. Tim smith looks like he's from a Beatles tribute band and his guitar playing isn't near Gem's. And he has no chemistry with Noel.

Yeah I dont get it either why is he mixed so low on LTLSALOM I listened to it on my headphones and that solo sounds awsome to me but it's horribly low

Thing is, the better a guitarist is, the more he's gonna wanna be in the lime light. Tom is the perfect fit for Noel.

Tim's a great player and good mover live i might add! But having only known Tim for a year and knowing and seeing and hearing more of Gem, Gem gets my pick by a long shot

I really like Tim. I like all the guys in Noel's band and I honestly think they fit perfect. They're sidemen but with enough personality or whatever that they're not just sidemen, if you know what i mean. I really hope he keeps them all around for a long time Really tho, you cant compare Gem and Tim - two different players. I do love both but obvioulsy Gem gets the nod for historical, performance, and recording reasons from me.
