Hey guys and girls, It's been trending on twitter so I thought I'd ask, who are your favourite vocalists? We're not talking stage presence, or virtuosity here, simply the voice you love the most. I've compiled my top five here: onechordtoanother.wordpress.com/I'll also be doing reviews, interviews, (will be posting one with Howler's Jordan Gatesmith soon!) features and more. Hope you guys check it out!

Greatest singers of all time? In no particular order, Bono, John Lennon and Michael Stipe. Replace Bono with Morrissey, add Liam and Ian Brown and there you go Just my favorite five, of course.

Ian Brown? Seriously?! I think he's a great frontman, and I'll admit his voice does have attitude, but for there's so many times he can't sing in tune.
Bono is up there, his range is incredible and has such a powerful voice. Lennon and Stipe have very unique voices too.
I would put Morrissey fourth for me - better lyricist (again, that says a lot as the other three I chose are great lyricists) and better frontman than the other three I chose but I would just pip them above Morrissey in terms of vocal ability.

Great call Matt, I nearly had Bono in there and Stipe is great too. Both have very recognizable and versatile voices. Bono's falsetto is very impressive.
The Resurrection, I love Ian Brown's voice at it's best. I think I've been influenced by too many cringeworthy performances on youtube though. He is a top frontman though. And great how he sings in his own Mancunian accent. We can thank him for inspiring Liam too.

Ian Brown? Seriously?! I think he's a great frontman, and I'll admit his voice does have attitude, but for there's so many times he can't sing in tune. Sure, he's usually bad live these days, but his voice on the two Roses albums (and during the first few years live) is spectacular...that's enough for me. Bono's voice is obviously good too, but I like R.E.M. a lot more than U2, and imo Michael Stipe is better live (didn't like Bonos singing on the 360° tour too much - Stipe's vocals before R.E.M. broke up were top notch).

Bono's voice is clearly recognizable, but often it veers into 'warbling' territory, and it's totally painful to behold. I won't give the guy house room, but fair enough if others dig the dude.

If we're talking about all voices blending into one, surely nobody beats the Beach Boys harmonies?

to me, a vocalist must be able to make you feel what they sing... anger, sadness, hate, love, whatever. anyway, my choices are:
Mick Flannery Damien Rice Rachael Yamagata Janis Brittany Howard (Alabama Shakes)
