Spain were stupid not playing a recognized striker, if Torres had come on earlier in the game they would have won. They created more chances in the short time he was on than they did for the whole time beforehand. Credit to Italy though they played well for the most part and were well worth their draw.
Ireland were poor.

At least he had chances to miss! Without a focal point in a team (even one as good and fluid as Spain) chances wont come as easily. In the first half Spain were limited to long distance shooting from outside the area and kept getting blocked off or ran into trouble when they entered the box.
Torres provided the run in-behind and even though he may not have scored he had the chance to pass the ball when he chose to lob it over the keeper. Those types of chances would have kept coming had he had longer and i'm sure he would have either slotted one in or passed the ball for someone else to slot in.

Fernando Llorente is way better than Torres.

Fucking England are like Chelsea without Drogba. They might still beat France, but I hope they don't go through. It's fucking sleep medication for me.
Hodgson... I have no words. This was supposed to be a good game.

You can only use what you have and we don't have much. We were better organised and motivated than the world cup but we won't keep getting away with that sort of performance.
Need to offer more going forward in the next game.

This was supposed to be a good game. Jealousy is a cruel mistress.... I bet she is. Are you implying I'm jealous of England's football display? Or Chelsea's CL title? --> that would make sense because winning is nice , but I don't really see England winning this one because there's NO DROGBA in the team, that's my point.

Need to offer more going forward in the next game. I think Roy was clearly trying not to lose this one. And he hardly got away with it. I hope he plays Walcott and not Milner for the next two games. The game would have been so different. I also think Young is usless in the center. I liked Chamberlain. But that's it.

Hodgson... I have no words. This was supposed to be a good game. What, England vs France? You expect too much. And whether it's Torres or not, on the evidence of yesterday's game Spain could do with selecting a centre forward. There's a reason most teams have them.

Seeing the names on each squad, it was supposed to be a good game. About Spain, the 6 midifielders thing is a joy to watch, but pretty ineffective. Agreed.

Yes he was - trying to get himself sent off constantly he had a nice walk to the goal. looked like he was dreaming if I were Italian I'd want to kill him day one complete on all groups and the sensation is Sheva ;D ;D ;D no "big" team made an exhibition, but at least Germany won.

Just watched the game.
France edged it, but it was a much better performance from England than their "effort" 4 years ago in the 2010 World Cup.
Still, 1-1 on opening day against their hardest group member isn't bad, innit.
