Still, 1-1 on opening day against their hardest group member isn't bad, innit. I'm not convinced that France were any more difficult to beat than either Ukraine or Sweden will be. As the hosts Ukraine need no motivation and Sweden, who England have never beaten in a competitive match, now all need three points from the game on Friday.

I think that could be a bonus for us actually. I don't worry about our back four with Parker in front of them, I think they are a good unit. Sweden are going to come out and have a go and I think that will give us plenty of opportunity to win the game.

Just watched the game. France edged it, but it was a much better performance from England than their "effort" 4 years ago in the 2010 World Cup. Still, 1-1 on opening day against their hardest group member isn't bad, innit. What year is it in NL4E world?!?!? HAHAHA typo, like.

Great game Denmark vs Portugal, now for the main event of the evening. These two hate each other.

Also if Holland win it makes it 3 points all in the group which makes for a very tasty couple of matches in a few days time

after the joke, I'm starting to fear them. Really. I hope Croatia defeats Italy and we do them the same so we're first on our group and don't meet them until the final (with some luck....)

At least he had chances to miss! Without a focal point in a team (even one as good and fluid as Spain) chances wont come as easily. In the first half Spain were limited to long distance shooting from outside the area and kept getting blocked off or ran into trouble when they entered the box. Torres provided the run in-behind and even though he may not have scored he had the chance to pass the ball when he chose to lob it over the keeper. Those types of chances would have kept coming had he had longer and i'm sure he would have either slotted one in or passed the ball for someone else to slot in. Point proven :-)

The Netherlands team is a shame. To this day I try to understand how Brazil lost to them at 2010's world cup.

We haven't got any good footballers but we easily have the best set of fans.

It is a pity but hopefully some other international fans might learn a lesson from our example. Would make for better atmosphere at international games.
