Most of the videos have sucked. I get the direction Bruce is trying to go off of, however they suck. They arent that interesting. The ONLY that makes them cool is the song playing along to the jibberish in the vid. Now this crap with washed up Mischa Barton, paah-lease! And as much as we all in here LOVE Noel and buy his singles, they WILL NEVER chart like Oasis' did 15yrs ago. those days are long gone. The videos would be better if they were animated like the MP one or if they did something like AATW. Somethings just not sitting right with these current vids. This. |

To me a good video has the artist in it. A lot. I'm not a big fan of videos that tell a story or have a lot of actors and actresses in them. I want to see the band. I'm not saying they have to be on stage playing the song, but I want to see them in some capacity in the video, and in more than just a scene or two. If I wanted to see actors I'd go see a movie or turn on my TV. So I'm not getting my hopes up for Noel's new video.
And based on what I've seen of the pictures, I so sincerely hope that this is NOT the Freaky Teeth video.

I like WAL and TDOUAM videos, IIHAG was really bad and DO was dull, i think ive only watched it once.
If the new single isnt off the album it could do alright in the charts, the last two only did bad because people already had them from the album. Bsides dont sell singles anymore, since you can just buy the bside.

What I like about Noel's videos is that Mike Bruce has at least tried to go down an interesting route with them. There's been storylines, cool camera shots, recognisable faces etc. Compared to being dreary and just having a video of the band playing the song.

one thing I hate is these smart arse music video directors who try to "convey a deep meaningful story" into the video, yet dont realise that they make no sense and are utter shite.
this Mike Bruce is a big offender in this..

I don't think he's doing any videos with deep meanings. Not to be mean, but if you think these videos have deep meanings, then you have a simplistic way of watching videos or film. These videos have been fairly simplistic. I would argue that they've been overly simplistic. The Dream On video is a great example of something being overly simplistic. If they had thought of something more deeply or meaningful for that video, they would never have come out the turd of a video they came out with. |

It's just a set-up. It's not suppose to have any meaning. You're acting like Mike Bruce is trying to make the second coming of 2001 A: Space Odyssey. The genesis of it all was probably the "oh me, oh my. I'm running out of batteries. I'm hanging from the ladder." and the "taking the shots as I fall" lines. The family at the boxing match "the kids...they drunk up all the lemonade". The husband/wife are reacting to the boxing match, but the wife puts herself in the dream as the great boxer and her husband as the opponent, hence Dream On. The husband is unaware that his wife is dreaming to beat him up. Which as I said, is an extremely simplistic way of interpreting the song. |
