What a shame. I was always really fond of Pretty Green.
I have a hoodie of theirs I bought around 2010 that I still wear most days. It’s a beaut, and the only item of clothing I feel completely comfortable in, wherever I am and whatever the weather.

EDIT: igotflair Already made your decision? __________ I got that jacket from SS16 without the patches. The quality is ok but not great.
For a girl, the Beatles version is fine. I wouldn't wear it

For a girl, the Beatles version is fine. I wouldn't wear it Yeah I think it’s a no even though I finally found one small enough. I just can’t get my head around the Helter Skelter kinda dripping text. My Lonely Hearts One is great, and very very distressed which I love. I could shred this one and add some custom badges n stuff but it’s the print on the back that I dunno about. I’ve been told it’ll look great cos I’m pretty small so not the same look as on a lad. I’m 75/25 no/yes Ha.

Got it, it’s pretty shit tbh. It’s too fresh looking. BUT I’m gonna distress it, shred it and add loads of badges n stuff. It’ll still be a bit naff to wear properly but it’ll be a great little jacket over beachwear when it gets a bit breezy 🏖😎

Paying 40 Euro for a T-shirt with its logo on it is ridiculous. Same for the jackets. you are correct.

Any idea if any sales or promo codes will be live soon? I want to buy another of my collarless jackets now that they are in stock but am hesitant to pull the trigger at full price.

Reading these comments, it's quite alarming how many of you are missing whats actually happened here.
The selling of the clothes was doing absolutely fine. They sold £34m worth of clothes last year. That's huge. These comments about you don't pay £35 for a t shirt etc. Erm yeah you do and its proven by how many people wear Pretty Green and proven by the fact a company was willing to buy it.
It's gone tits up because it created far too many stories, in a time where the high street really isn't doing well. Then to top it off House Of Fraser who they had a big deal with to sell clothes in their stores, went bust. That's why Pretty Green went into Administration.

Seems like JD Sports stopped all mid season sales. End of season sale usually starts at the beginning of June.

It's amazing how many people just write a narrative in their head and go with it.

I went to the sample sale in Leeds. It was all medium. Literally all. Bunch of pricks. I imagine they didn't mention it on the advertising in the hope that people who are usually a small or large would buy something just to justify the trip to themselves.

Virtually all samples are made in medium mate. You aren't going to make a sample in XL and risk using more material than you need to.

The selling of the clothes was doing absolutely fine. They sold £34m worth of clothes last year. That's huge. You do get the difference between turnover and profit? Their turnover was £28m in 2018 and they lost about £2.2m. All in all -£10m since 2015. In which world is that great? 2011 +11k / 8,1m turnover 2012 -846k / 10,8m turnover 2013 -2m / 10.9m turnover 2014 +42k / 15.1m turnover 2015 -875k /19.8m turnover 2016 -5.6m / 21.1m turnover [formerly -937k /22.7m turnover] 2017 -1.5m / 38m turnover (16 months until Jan 18) 2018 -2.2m / 28m turnover (draft accounts Jan 18-Jan 19)

I said in terms of sales of clothes. The turnover was poor because of the reasons I already mentioned. The expansion was far too agressive. Especially in the current climate. The sales of clothes were not the issue. Opening a ridiculous amount of shops was. Hence why another company has taken it on and focused on one store and the online store. If the sales were just straight up poor and no one was buying it, it wouldn't have been bought.

Of course sales of clothes were an issue. Why do you think did they launch one sale after another in the past years? Because no one bought their stuff at full price anymore after they permanently dropped quality. Just selling many items doesn't mean a thing if you have to cut down prices too much to make people buy them...

£1.5m or whatever it was last year is pennies in high street retail. Like fartpanic says, it's about a brave but foolish expansion strategy that left the business in a place where it wasn't going to start making money without either rolling the dice again to expand further or being swallowed by one of the big boys.

Fact is that an urgent capital requirement of £2m in Feb 19 was the last nail in the coffin and JD only paid £3.3m for the company. If their outlook was so great the company wouldn't have been so cheap.
Looking back, things started going wrong as early as 2013. They chose the complete wrong strategy and tried to turn a high quality niche brand into a high price/medium to low quality brand with retail stores in every town, though it was pretty obvious that the internet is the place where more and more people buy their stuff.
