But seriously, I don´t own anything from PG so I don´t know much about quality and I can´t talk much about prices because average salary in Serbia is like 300 euros so I can´t really say what is expensive for people in U.K. and what´s not. But I don´t think that it is about prices and quality, it is more about design. I think that it was all about that you can bought cool clothes that your favourite musicians and idols wear. If you have more money, you will buy more, if you don´t have much money, you will save money for that one special item that you are dying to own. I saw Pretty Green as that kind of brand and they had so many those special items that I guess that kids all around the world were dying to own, I know I did. To me, it was more like that. You see something that Noel or Liam or Lennon or Weller...wore and you want to have that but you can´t find it anywhere and Pretty Green was often offering solution for your problems. I wanted those unique items. And ofc that you have to pay for something like that. But now I feel that those new collections are full of some students shit and PG is starting to look more and more like every other brand. They even sell this jackets now and if there one thing that I hate... Wtf is this shit, looks like something that I wore when I was 12 So ugly and uninspired, buy these if you want to look as copywriter and this is your company t shirts And wtf is this? Not only it is ugly as hell, it also has Hajduk Split badge? Fuck that

Interesting debate over the last few posts. Not having a budget option isn’t the problem or the solution for me. None of their competitors targeting similar demographics (brands like Fred Perry, Lyle & Scott etc) have budget options. I don’t think sales (as in units sold) is the issue, I see more Pretty Green out and about than ever before in my opinion.
One of the biggest problems imo is they tried to expand their high street presence too fast. They just have too many stores considering the state of the high street these days. I’ve been in a couple (London and Glasgow) and both times I was about the customer in there. These stores are probably very high cost versus the income they make. A couple of flagship stores is all a brand like PG needs. Think they’ve been stung pretty badly by House of Fraser going under as well.
That Paisley Submarine blog was very good talking about what had gone wrong.

I was only joking before, I actually have a couple of polo shirts from PG. Bit pricier than I normally buy, I've got young kids and I spend most of my money on them, but great quality and have lasted well. If I was younger and had more disposable income I'd have bought more.
The point where I started getting a negative impression of them as a brand was when they did that awful Beatles collection. Just made me think of them as a novelty brand. I'd never be seen dead in anything like that.
If they are going to market themselves as a high end brand then imo they should stick to that and take it seriously.

I'm absolutely astonished at how much concern the topic of 'PG closing shop' is getting.
Mind-bottling.

Didn't I read that it was only last year when they first made a profit? I took that as a sign that the mass produced and cheaper stuff/sales was working?

From September 15 to October 16 they made losses of £5.6m and between October 16 and January 18 losses of £1.5m. So no, their mass market concept never worked.

I hate seeing men wearing those jackets, especially those new, trendy puffer jackets that looks like they are few sizer smaller and especially those shiny ones. I don´t know, I don´t like the fact that they are selling those trendy jackets, PG had its own style when they started, they didn´t sell trendy shit. PG was basically like Liam´s warderobe and I can´t imagine Liam wearing those new, trendy puffies. Something like this, yes But I hate jackets like this, at least when we talk about men´s fashion And that PG red one that I posted is more similar to those last two.

i mean... let's be real, PG couldn't sustain itself with solely that traditional LG look. the man hasn't been able to tell the difference between a parka and a garbage bag for years. and the paisley trend doesn't seem to have taken off in the fashion world. the only people i know who are into paisley are massive hippies and they certainly aren't buying high-end british clothing brands. he's gotta make money somehow. and if he's not gonna make clothes for women, incredibly slightly feminine men's clothing is gonna have to do, eh?

It doesn´t have to be just that traditional LG look, I think that they should brand themselves as rock and roll, casual, even hooligan look store but they shouldn´t become like H and M. And when it comes to jackets, I think that is pretty easy because there are so many cool styles that can fit in PG store. Some might say that this two jackets are simililar but to me they are so different. First one is telling me - we know who we are, and second one is telling me - we are just copying modern designs.

I have no idea about the fashion world, but I have noticed quite a lot of paisley recently in the stores like H&M etc. Or maybe that's just Vienna.
