I just realised, that no Oasis album opener is ever known to be disliked by the majority, in fact, they have been consistently good and right up there and the one that gets talked about least is in the album considered the best (WTSMG - and this is not a point of discussion.)
I just wanted to know whether this was really the case (that it is actually the worst album opener) - because I really like Hello, and was curious and ect, figured I might as well put the poll this way.
Also, I figured best would have been done and people go fucking mental when people make threads that have been made before (the only reason I haven't yet posted a how big do you think Noel and Liam are thread), so someone should link that here.

there is no other band i know which had so many great opener. i pick the hindu times because it's the worst of all of them but on a very high level

Last 3 are nearly on the same (high) level, picked TUTS which I always found a bit lacking (and too long).

I'm to get crucified for this, but I picked FITB.
In fact, I preferred it much more when they came out to The Swamp Song, and the band were playing it as the Gallagher's appeared (see Maine Road). FITB is dull by comparison.

FITB is dull by comparison. Well said. Swamp Song live is awesome. I dug that the whole band minus Liam played it to open shows. It would have been nice to see Noel attempt playing the FITB riff to open shows. Did he even play that on the album or was it Paul "Strange Boy" Stacy? I can't remember. A lost opportunity. As far as worst album opener....I'd go THT. I prefer the demo and it's lyrics to the finished version. |

D'You Know What I Mean? It's a great song but stays way far to loong(like anything else on the album besides the reprise and IHITIK). The guitars at the end gives a vibe that is killed afterwards with the bang of My big mouth.

Bag it Up. All the other ones are great songs. I'm not particularly too fond of DYKWIM but it it's still better than BIP. And that says a lot about that album, considering that's supposed to be one of the highlights.
Heck, Four Letter Word is a better opener imo.

I'm not overly surprised, I think that Bag it Up is a very good song (never seen it being shitted on in any other thread), I would go so far to say that I like it better than Rock n Roll star, it just represents less as a whole.
I voted for Turn Up the Sun (I hate that 'Love one another' line), but like said, its amazing how high quality all of these are. (Then you can go on and include Four Letter Word and Everybody's on the Run - there really isn't a bad one)
Rock n Roll Star/The Hindu Times/Fucking in the Bushes can all seem like worse options than Bag it Up (to me), but for different reasons, I voted differently.

Pretty shocked at the number of votes BIU has got. Its a really good song and I rate above THT, FITB and TUTS so its surprising that it has gotten so many votes.
I voted for THT. Demo version is great but the final version is pretty poor, not worth listening after the first verse really.

Its gotta be TUTS. I mean, I love the song, but it shoulda been Lyla. TUTS is just underwhelming sometimes instead of coming in with a bang like The Hindu Times or Go Let It Out

I'd say THT, as it is the least best of those amazing tracks. The production doesnt help it much, though it sounds much better live.

Funny how the best opener according to this poll is the opener of the most criticized Oasis Album Individually, a lot of the songs on BHN are great but overall the album really stinks. For example, I think AATW is great but I'd rather punch myself than listen to it when it comes on the album. |
