So Noel is playing and blur are getting the outstanding contribution award.
The collab potential rises!

Do you mean for something in the studio? Because I'd seriously doubt that Blur would share a stage with Noel on their big day. But in the studio, maybe. Probably unlikely.
I think there'd be more chance of it happening through Damon's solo and side projects, rather than Blur itself.

Frankly...Blur doesn't need Noel.
A Damon-Noel collaboration would be great though.

Collaborations at award shows are horrible and should never be done. Just because you like someone's work, doesn't mean you should do a duet with them. I find it's just a way to cheat acts out of their own deserved time. Half the show this year will be horrible duets with wannabes anyway with that stupid MasterCard competition, they don't need anymore.

If a collaboration were to ever happen, I'd like it to be through Damon's solo stuff, rather than on stage. I'd kill for 1 song written, produced, and sung by Noel and Damon.

My vote is for a Lou Reed + Metallica + Noel collaboration.

i like Blur, well at least a few of their songs but seriously, when i see them getting the same award Oasis got that night... i feel like that award loses its value. Not hating on them at all, i just don't think they deserve it.

Damon Albarn had a bigger impact on music than Blur together did. But there isn't really anyone else to give it to at this point.

Past winners of the award have included Sting, Pet Shop Boys, and Robbie Williams. Blur are a huge improvement with that in mind and, if you're gonna give that award to one British band from the 90s that isn't Oasis or Radiohead, Blur would be it.

Blur definitely deserves it. And Jessica. I think Damon has done some great stuff since Blur, but in no way have the Gorillaz or anything else has done been as influential as Blur were in the 90's.

Pulp would have been great. Don't know how influential they were though. :/ A setlist of Do You Remember The First Time, Disco 2000, and Common People would have been appropriate, followed by an encore of Help The Aged, This is Hardcore, Lipgloss, Razzamatazz, Babies, among some other hits. .

I think it's fair enough that Blur are getting a nod for outstanding contribution. They were as pivitol as any band in defining the Britpop era. They definitely contributed signifcantly in a positive way to the British musical landscape.

I mean they put out that album in 08 and then i think i saw Richard Ashcroft performing his solo work on Jimmy Fallon not that long ago... but i didn't know they had officially split. Anyways, it's not like they couldn't get together to accept the damn statue and play a couple of tunes.

Blur not only contributed more to British music, they also produced more records. I love The Verve, but Urban Hymns isn't very groundbreaking (despite being absolute quality) and their older work falls in line with 90s trends of the time. I mean, many insist that Modern Life is Rubbish is one of the key albums during the birth of Britpop. Can't really say the same for A Storm in Heaven which I think is a great album, but it always overshadowed by Loveless.

I suspect it will be Dream On since the Brits take place in late February, right around the time his next single is due. Doesn't make since to play a single from two months prior when a new one is about to come out.

I really hope to see Blur play "Sing" from the first album and Trainspotting soundtrack. What a tune.
