#1 is the phone line from Take Me Away. Without a doubt. Yes! And 'he lives under a waterfall, where nobody can see him, nobody can ever hear him call' Both about phones as well. And Take Me Away was the B-side to Supersonic. Can't be a coincidence

Well, it's all fucking subjective, right? I happen to think when Noel gets too deepand philisophical he's usually way out of his depth. Some people hate the chorus to Record Machine. I happen to like it. tomlives loves Round Are Way because it reminds him of growing up and playing football. As a Canadian who only played hockey and baseball, I just find it to be overly twee nonsense. All of those opinions are reasonable enough. And I'm tempted to tell you to fuck right off about me being so thick about the lyrics to Little By Little that English must not be my native tongue. But I won't. You can not like it if you want. But YOU said putting dog there made more sense than god. Putting dog there makes zero sense. The original line makes sense you just don't like it. Tomlives is entitled to his opinion to prefer nonsense. As are you. But having your life falling apart because you DOG woke up on the bed is utter nonsense. If you prefer it...go for it. But all I really mean is that that you say it should have been dog because it made more sense does make it sound like you only have a passing sense of English colloquialism such a what it means "to wake up on the wrong side of the bed." I wasn't trying to insult you. Any chance you are French Canadian eh? Prefer nonsense?

What? Round Are Way is about being young! Always reminds me about growing up. The football stuff and that. Maybe its an English thing. Must be an English thing. Reminds me of being in Secondary School and on Saturdays a load of us going up the green with a crate kickin the footy around all day. Top top tune. And the LBL lyric has been explained. It's a decent lyric. I'm not some Noel apologist either, there's plenty of lyrics I don't like. "She put an apple in my eye" isn't a bad one either - people just don't seem to be familiar with English idioms. I dislike the apple in my eye bit. It isn't that it doesn't make sense to me. (you are the apple of my eye etc.) I just think it's cheesy.

My point was that it sounded stupid to me-the lyric just does not click-the idea of his God getting up on the wrong side of the bed just sounds dumb and nonsensical to me. My allusion to the dog was that something as stupid as a dog getting up on the wrong side of the bed has more resonance to me than what the lyric actually said. But if you're going to be anal retentive about it, I will simplify my criticism of Little By Little's lyrics: They try to be deep and fail miserably. I don't enjoy or like them. Having said that, the chorus is epic and I still think its a great song, in a cheesy, brainless way. And no, I am not French Canadian, although I do enjoy poutine and beaver tails.

Excuse me for reading what you wrote. Please go on. Tell me how you can make his dog getting up on the wrong side of the bed make someones life fall apart. After all, it makes FAR, FAR more sense. Please...explain that to me. If it WERE his dog getting up on the wrong side of the bed that WOULD take the cake for worst lyric. Screw the phone lyric Also...you don't need to break down the lyrics for it to make sense. It ACTUALLY makes sense if you have a basic grasp of english. Maybe you're a Newfie? Pothead out of Vancouver? Politician in Ottowa? If you are out of Manitoba I will conclusively have proven that the removal of standardized testing really has compromised the educational needs of students. tomlivesforever makes total sense. You can criticise it easily for being psuedo intellectual drivel. But it isn't nonsense or brainless.

I apologize profusely if my original post didn't cut the mustard. My seven years of post-secondary education were all for naught. You win. Go do a jig in the middle of your studio apartment. I think its a stupid (i.e. brainless) lyric. It doesn't speak to me. It does not create an image or story in my mind that registers positively. That is all. Let it go. I understand you might be going to the Toronto gig. I will be the normal, well-adjusted happy person enjoying the concert with my wife in the lower seating area. I pray that you are not my row, lest when I tell my wife excitedly how much EOTR kicks ass, you will spend the rest of the concert explaining to me how a song technically cannot kick an ass. You need to get laid. Badly.

I think it makes sense but may be a bit inane. You think it doesn't make sense and it should have been dog. Whatever....It's not really a hill to die on...which is what it seems to have turned in to. Don't start being rude just because you can't defend what you write. I am ill and feeling a bit nauseous and ill-tempered so I am a bit sorry. I really didn't mean the english as a second language thing as an insult. There are quite a few non-english speakers on the board. And obviously the Newfie, Ottawa politician bits were jokes. Chill out. People need to stop taking disagreements so personally. I disagree with you therefore there must be something wrong with me? PS...EOTR does kick ass...you are 100% right about that

This album has the worst... I really hate the word baby used in current music because it sounds to corny..
A lot of you are posting lyrics that may not make sense but don't ruin the song. His solo has cringe worthy lyrics that hurt the album.
From high flying birds: Dream on - I'm in love with you lady. Lol Record machine - everyone in my mouth and those damn kids Solider boy - she was just a baby doll Stranded on wrong beach - all depends on my load hahah and long journey baby haha
Have a hard time listening to those songs. Noel def needs help in that area.
Next whatv ruined doys for me: Bag it up - heebee geebees in my little bag The turning - rag doll baby Shock of the lightning - the chorus

As for the second half, I still don't see the problem: Heebee geebees refers to the paranoia associated with the drug use sung in the song. And thus works quite well within the context. Rag doll is a metaphor for a person/body...."shake your rag doll" = get moving. Sometimes I think people post lyrics they hate simply because they don't understand them.....

No - Strawberry Fields Forever. And of course lyrics that make sense aren't automatically good.
