Good for you. Now run along to your little hole. ............................................................................................................ Anyways, great for Noel. There's no need for that sort of abuse. All I am doing is quoting Noel. I expect a mod to caution you. That'll be the day.

Dream On has charted at 28 today in the midweek charts, if anyone's arsed!! I'm quite surprised actually. Didn't expect to see it in the top 40 to be honest. Thought it might have gone the same way as IIHAG.

Not suprisef DO is doing better than IIHAG, Radio 2 are giving it quite a push. Heard it everyday at work, already this morning.
After 3 consecutive slow plodders, Dream On jumps out and sounds amazing! Good radio single I say

25 for the album. And nada for DO.
So ends the run in the top 20.
Waste of a single. Just as I thought it would...DO tanked. Probably basically all physicals from big fans I'd assume judging by the drop from 28 to below 100. No significant boost for the album and basically no showing for DO at all.
As I said before...it you aren't going to release your best don't release anything at all. Failed on every level.
Didn't even make the top 100. Interesting to note that WAL is still sitting pretty at 83. Proof that people will buy a single off the radio if they think it sounds good...even if that single and album have been out 5 months or more...despite what all the "nobody is going to buy a single song instead of an album" crew assert.
I still think a better song could at least have appeared on the chart and the album some good.
Pity that just as Noel got a track listing right, he lost his ability to recognize what a good single is.
That's one thing Oasis generally did well.

I generally don't have much against what you say, and I know that you get bitched at a lot, but . . . you are talking utter nonsense here. True DO is not the best single since DLBIA, but that doesn't matter. The point is that it is the 4th single off an album that has out performed EVERYONES expectations. Did you really think it would last forever? Also, the idea that Noel can't pick a good single really has less to do with Noel and more to do with the culture around him currently. It doesn't matter what he releases right now, he is not going to light up the singles chart. He just isn't! Aside from TIOBI, the last 10 or so Oasis singles only cracked the top ten because of the enormous name of the band. Sure, some of the tunes are pure class, but that is not why they reached loftier standing amongst singles. The Oasis brand carried a lot of weight for every release. My point is that Noel is still releasing quality tunes, but the populous that is buying singles simply don't give a shit about a 40-something former phenomenon. The fire that drew people to buy those early Oasis singles is not there anymore, but that in no way means that the singles themselves are worse songs, they are just missing the mythology surrounding them that makes them something godlike. Cheers to Noel for doing as well as he did over the past 5 months or so, and I wish him success moving forward, but I refuse to believe that he will at some point become another phenomenon. To me he is number 1 and always will be, but the music scene has moved on.

WAL shows that a good single by Noel can still make it in the singles market. Most people don't look up artist ages when they buy singles or care. I accept that others think that the place of a single will be the same regardless of what the song is...but I just don't agree. I don't expect massive things or a phenomena...but I would have hoped that another single would have at least stabilized album sales for another week or two. Last thing I'm gonna say about DO as a single choice though. I dare-say everyone is aware of my opinion on it by now. LOL

Jeeze...one post of criticism of the single choice and it's lack of benefit to the album sales and all of a sudden everyone feels the need to point out too me how Noel has done in the past? None of that has ANYTHING to do with that post. The first 3 singles were well chosen (despite Noel botching the timing of the IIHAG release)...as I said many times before. 4th...not so much. One of the least popular songs on the album amongst the fanbase and not in a "just not my kind of music" kind of way. It's right up an Oasis fans alley.

Do we have an accurate figure of it's sales to date? Wikipedia is still saying 600,000 as of February

I suppose we can assume that it either has or will in the next few weeks pass DOYS total. It should pass SOTSOG too since as far as I know that didn't reach 700k
