I know several people who have this album and would never have bought an oasis album. A lot of people have been pleasantly surprised by Noel when they've seen him on TV especially the Graham Norton show and the Late Late last Friday night. Seems they had an opinion formed on oasis because of someone else with the name Gallagher... So you're saying they bought the album because they think Noel is a nice funny guy ? Because the music on HFB is the same than Oasis. Not exactly. People are fickle and they have generally received this album better as they don't have someone telling them "Its fucking mega man. Best album of the next 50 fucking years man so go and fucking buy it". That and the fact that its the best Gallagher related release since Morning Glory.

Why is it that every thread you post in you need to have a pop at Liam?
They both made Oasis and have both released great albums in my opinion, if you don't think so then that's fine but there's no need to continually go on about it. Stop being pathetic and picking sides when there is no need to; enjoy the music and move on from this pantomime rubbish.

Well even DOYS had sold 5 millions copies, so I think people were receiving Oasis very well. And do you seriously hate the singer of the band you're supposed to be a fan of ? I don't get how some supposely Oasis fan can hate Liam and need to slagg him of all the time. If you hate Liam, what are you listening to ? Just Noel accoustic show and sung songs ? that's not very much. How could you handle it in gig ? You were here for the 4 Noel sung songs? Fucking hell, Liam is the singer of the band you're supposed to be a fan of and you hate him? Isn't there anything weird with that?

DOYS didn't nearly sell that much. Not even half. Where did you get that number from? DOYS might be the worse selling Oasis album ever. It only sold 1.5 million at best (I'm being really generous there). DOYS only sold 609,000 albums in the UK. That's rock bottom in terms of Oasis sales. Noel will probably pass DOYS's UK sales. Where did DOYS sell so well at that it's at 5 million album sales?

NME was being lazy and quoting wikipedia. And wikipedia is incredibly unreliable with album sales. The album only went double platinum in Oasis' largest market (Uk) it only sold just over 116,000 copies in the US, the largest music market in the world. It is impossible for it to have sold 5 million copies, period. I don't think there's any debate toward that. I guarantee that it hasnt even approached 2 million yet, much less 5 million. That 5 million is from desperate Oasis fans who have drastically inflated the numbers on wikipedia. Believe me, it's more like 1.5 million.

Well even DOYS had sold 5 millions copies, DOYS isn't anywhere near even half of that amount. I don't think it's even at 2 million.

To quote Noel, "We were playing to 3 million people on the last Oasis tour, trust me, we weren't selling 3 million albums."

Was expecting a bump to either 9 or 8, but still great for Noel. Ensures another week in the Top 20. Looks like in terms of album placement, Noel and Florence & the Machine received the highest bump. (again, in terms of album placement).

Haven't Blur sold 30 times more albums than they did last week? Surely they've made some ground haha?

(again, in terms of album placement). It's only to midnight Tuesday. There were probably only 2 hours after the Brits that counted. He could still make top 10

Yeah, it must be mistake. He's definitely should show up at #12. The weird part is that if you look under the indie section for albums, his album is there at #3.

12 in the albums AKA...WAL 47 in singles. WAL continuing as the best Gallagher related single, in terms of sales, since TIOBI. And the album should hold in the Top 20 through some of March.

He should be between 22,000-18,000 away from Double Platinum. With the NME performance this week he shouldn't be more a week or two away. Probably more like two weeks than one.

^
I think he might get it this week. After all it's based on shipments not sales.
He'll get the cerification while he is still a few thousand shy of 600K in sales.
All those albums sitting in music stores that havent been bought yet still count towards certifications.

Apparently Music Week Magazine has just announced that Noel's been certified X2 Platinum. The BPI certification should be announced this weekend. Congrats to Noel. It will be interesting to see where this album ends up in total UK sales.
