Noel wanted this song to be epic, the choir is a bit annoying, but fits the whole song atmosphere.

I cant believe yer all criticizing the web stream! When we get the real copy, I think the mix will fall into place smoother.. That damn web stream makes his voice very punchy and trebly.
I'm hoping for the official copy asap.. Then, we can discuss!

this song is not well produced, there is something wrong sadly. The drums are so lazy, even McCarroll could have come with some more "pretentious". I am not a fan of this song, it is not the strongest in the album. And the choirs, fucking choirs, they are too much in that song, and then Noel voice. Sardy, you fucked up this song.

Best thread on here, Noel has fucking butchered a song that was potentially as good if not better than all his early classics (LF, WW, DLBIY) The soundcheck version is much slower, has anguish and real pain/emotion in the lyrics this version on the album is too quick, too slick/polished/smooth. It doesn't seem to be able to make it's mind up, starts slow, tempo builds and you think it might break into a real anthemic, spine tingling song then it just lets itself down.
Noel vocal is great, get rid of the stupid echo and imagine it over sparse acoustic guiter, slower in tempo with maybe some of the strings and choir towards the end and it could have been a 10/10 classic to span generations.

how can you fucking "hate echoes", how do you guys get attached to those shitty quality youtube videos anyway. If you guys had your way we'd get a noel album of 10 acoustic songs recorded on a cassette tape.

if that song weren't on the internet before no one would had complained about the production and said that this song is mega. just take it as it is and don't try to be a better producer or musician than sardy or noel

I think its one of the best songs Noel has never written. Said that, i also don´t like the echo in the verses. In fact, when i first listened the song i was thinking there was a problem with the mp3

I personally really like it, but can see why people might find it too sickly.

but it's different feeling i guess. i've heard the choir and strings of that song so many times that it felt a bit wrong when i heard the whole song. now i really like it in full

To each his own, but the song is phenomenal!
One of Noel's finest moments, and I can see him putting this track one, just to spite Liam with it's greatness! Is it bloated? Yes. Is it over-done possibly? Yes. But who else can pull this type of tune off as well as the Chief? No one.

a lot of you people ruined the album for yourselves by listening to the soundcheck over and over again and listening to the 30 seconds clips. I only listened to the soundcheck once and did not bother with the clips and upon first listen this song is one of his best and the best song on the album

The tempo of the soundcheck was dreary. The strings are awesome. An acoustic guitar strumming a slow ballad would have been a boring beginning. And if you have a problem with reverb...that's your problem...it sounds fine.
I'm sorry for everyone that has been dreaming of a full acoustic album. But this album is unabashedly grand and it sounds good.
If it is any consolation. Noel does acoustic sessions a lot. I'm sure you'll get your acoustic version at some point.
My the fanbase is bitchy about production.

It sounds like he properly gives a fuck.

I admit I was a bit baffled when I listened to EOTR for the first time, I was used to the soundcheck and its tempo. I wasn't a big fan of the echoes too. But now after many listens I think it's nearly perfect as it is. It's just EPIC. Well done Noel.

My the fanbase is bitchy about production. The only reason for this is because several of these songs we've heard before, either in soundcheck or demo form... so everyone had preconceived notions of how they wanted the songs to sound. If we had all went into this with fresh ears, I'm sure many would be far more accepting of the songs. For instance that's why you don't hear anyone complaining about the production on AKA... What a Life, because that song was brand new when we heard it.

There's a reason why it's the opener and not a track 3 or 4 (crucial tracks for Noel): the song was never a classic to begin with, as much as people wanted it to be and as much as Noel hyped it. I didn't listen to the soundcheck much because it didn't think much of it... It turned out ok, bar the shitty echo on the voice during the verses but i guess that's already been said.
The strings are phenomenal though but they dont seem to fit with the rest of the production, it's like eating a banana with salt on it. I'm sure i'll end up being ok with the whole thing but it could have been much much much, much better.

the soundcheck version Noel sings with so much passion/emotion in a more natural voice. I would love it if Noel did an acoustic version for a radio session this way.
