I loved the soundcheck version but am not a fan of this album version.. should of kept that acoustic intro for mine ( with the strings) and then annoying echo to the voice and the vocal is not as good as the soundcheck

The vocal not as good as the sound check? Can you honestly tell me thats true considering the less than stellar recording of said sound check? I swear some of you people....

on my initial listen I thought it was ruined as well, I didn't like the drums on it-and Noels voice is SO THERE. but after a number of listens I've started enjoying it

The guitar chords in the soundcheck sounded awesome, and the autotuned backing vocals are very awkward.

Aaaagh!! Don't you get it, it's cos youve got a misconception in your head about what it should sound like... The demo is not the song!!! Ficking you tube:(

You'll learn to love it, forestfan. For instance I really hated the drumming arrangement when I heard EOTR the first time... but over time I learned to love the song completely, just as it is now. A great song is still a great song, no matter how it's dressed up.
A couple years from now when you hear this song you won't be going on about how the 'soundcheck' version is better. I guarantee it. You might still think so, but it definitely won't bother you as much. I think the soundcheck version of STC at Hong Kong in 2008 is the best version of that song... but I knew the album version wouldn't sound like that, and I don't care. It's still good.

Years later I still prefer the demo version of The Hindu Times, Let There Be Love, and even Live Forever. There's no guarantee that I'm going to prefer the finished product, particularly when its seems so over-worked like this one does. I prefer the other songs on the album to the demos, fwiw.

I dont care if you've been on a message board longer than me. Dare to defy you? What's going to happen? Get over yourself. And yea It's your opinion... We are all entitled to one granted.. But posting it on a message board is asking for criticism and an opinion on your statement.
Sitting there on your high horse with your dense retort hidden under a guise of smugness Isn't going to change facts lad.

I've seen some shite posted on here, But to say a shit soundcheck recording is better than the album version is up there with the worst.
You can't get more epic than the album version.

i agree though, the first listen was very weird. I really love the soundcheck version and think he could've made something better / more epic out of this song than it is now.
I don't like the echo on his voice + his voice in the soundcheck was very weak/vulnerable which really suited the song. I feel like his voice is too strong for the feeling of the song now. And it also feels as if the song is sped up or something? don't know, very strange feeling..

the speed is too fast..yeah mentioned above
like he wants you to get on to hearing Dream On in double quick time
I dont believe its shit to say the soundcheck version was better right now..guitar + voice and that empty arena was stunning
the album version just needs to slow down a bit

I thought so too on first listen. I didn't like the fast tempo.
However, after repeat listens, I really love it. Epic tune.

Don't like the intro, sounds like someone holding one note on a Mellotron. Like the rest though.

The sound check never thrilled me.
How the fuck anyone can hear autotune through the effects on the back vocals is puzzling me.
I prefer the new tempo. The strings are great. His vocals are impressively strong. I don't mind the reverb. Glad he comes in sounding strong instead of wimpy and vulnerable.
Honestly though. That soundcheck was pretty boring.
Bottom line there is no pleasing everyone.

For me, the album version is REALLY too fast...Seems like Noel can't finish each line...By the way,the production is outstanding...

Stopped listening to the Soundcheck versions (and demos) the day the album was announced. What a great song. THIS is track. Not the soundcheck.
