LOVE this song, reminds me of Roll It Over, Shout It Out Loud etc I was thinking the exact same thing. At least it reminds me a bit of Shout It Out Loud. Could easily fit into the Giants era aswell. Great great song by the way. As much as I love I'd Pick You Everytime, I really enjoy the songs that are longer than 2 minutes more I think.

Would like to hear this live as well. me too. i really hope this finds its way onto the setlist, even though it's a slow song.

Beautiful song up there with some of the best stuff Radiohead used to do (before they insisted on adding that annoying tinny electronic drum sound to nearly everything they do now - I just find them unlistenable these days because of that).
Gorgeous work Noel. Love to hear it live with a slow, lengthy Pink Floyd-style fade out.

Really love this song. Great to see that Noel still cares for a non-album tracks and for the B-sides.

IIRC (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach was described as a similar sort of low-key, chill out song. Maybe (SO)TWB is the better of the two and Noel didn't want 2 songs like that on the album. Great song though btw If I am right then (SO)TWB should be pretty fucking good as well then!

This song is fucking fantastic. I don't understand why it isn't going to be on the album. I think it's my favorite one of Noel's new songs so far.

Most interesting song he's done in years. Personally wish this is the sound/production that should've come after SOTSOG
Reminds me of this

It's really beautiful. I think I even like it more than IIHAG, which I love! I just hope he'll be playing it live, it's too good.

Brilliant! He has to play it live, definitely. As for the weird release schedule, maybe it's a Instant Karma-type single? Maybe he wrote it a week ago and decided just to put it out as a surprise.

Yeah, one day it will all end. That's the only good thing about the split: That both Gallaghers have continued. They both could have so easily just called it a day. They have enough money to need to do it anymore. But thank god they have continued. I took Oasis for granted, thinking they would be around for a long time. The split has made me realize that they aren't getting any younger and we need to cherish their output for as long as it lasts. Don't even want to think of the day it ends..... ... and that's the beauty of them both continuing: they're not doing it for a paycheck. they're doing it because they both still have that passion and you can hear it in the music (from both liam and noel) not because they HAVE to, but because they WANT to. that's why in the end, the end of oasis was the best thing that could have happened (although we didn't see it that way at the time). Can't imagine the day when I read on my iphone the death of NG or Liam. Could be a very shocking time for me and for you I imagine... TBH, I am still not over the split of Oasis. I get all emotional when I watch their gigs.... And I'm sure when Liam or Noel passes on, a bit of me will also die...... Anyway, about the song.... I love it... Someone sent it to me by text at 2AM and I listened to it half asleep... One of the strangest experiences of my life

Alone on the rope is really nice, the only thing that I am not happy with is that it reminds me a lot of Kula Shaker´s Hollow man... it is just small part of the song, but almost the same... compare the line "If you try as hard as you can..."at 4:00 and the chorus of Alone on the rope ... anyway, great song.

Jesus Noel's management doesn't make it easy on us do they?
Just spend over an hour trying to buy 'Alone on the Rope' and/or "I'd pick you..."
No dice.
How the fuck is one supposed to purchase said mp3s if you are not Japanese or British??
They are in the business of making money right?? It doesn't really seem to be the case given they release songs at random with no promotion and you have to win the "Where I was born" sweepstakes in order to purchase half the songs anyway...
Anyone got em?

That chorus is structurally very simple, AOTR is more about the atmosphere I guess. I actually prefer Hollow Man, great great tune.
