So far these 3 songs are nothing special. Just re-heats of other songs: TDOYAM= TIOBI IIHAG= Sounds lie Im outta time to me. "if I had a gun..." = "If i'm to fall..." AKA.. wal = Sounds like any Kasabian song. I hate "Team Liam" trolls. IIHAG is the best thing Noel has done since the mid 1990s. It's stunning and so beautiful. It's a classic in every sense. And as Spaneli pointed our prior, we have different expectations for different artists. I agree with him that if BDI released WAL we would be all amazed, but we have Noel on such a high, if not almost unachievable, level. Just listening to IIHAG again now on quality headphones. Fucking hell, it's amazing. If there's a better song on this album, then wow. And there very well could be.  |

I don't know if they are. Was Live Forever a reheat of what? Dont look back in anger? Wonderwall? Those songs were great because they were FRESh even if they were inspired by another song. These Noel songs are not FRESH. They are Predictable and kind of boring. |

This is my favorite so far from Noel because it's different and the first one to actually get me excited when I listened to it. It sounds really good. Does the melody remind anyone else of Arcade Fire - Power Out? You're right about that, hadn't realized it. There's also something about the drums stomping that is a bit similar too. |

They are Predictable and kind of boring. How have you listened to any Oasis since BHN? Because by your definition, everything since then has been predictable and boring. I need more of a reason, than "it doesn't sound fresh". I need a better explanation of a point. |

Remember when the BDI album came out and the most random polls of good BDI songs came out, comparing them to the worst Noel songs. Even though in beginning we we're never suppose to compare them. It only takes a few tools to derail a thread. To troll where there's life, I guess.
First impressions:
Song lacks dynamics - we have all the instruments playing all the time, the drums are repetitive, and there is a general lack of variation when it comes to instrument arrangement.
This song should be a knock out, but Sardy is not pulling his weight in the production department. The stale arrangement is holding a good song back. If this was arranged like Nine Inch Nails' The Head That Feeds (a lot of movement, instruments drop in and out for different sections, the drums change, hi-hats drop in on chorus and enhance the groove), this would be massive.
Noel should demand more from his producer and band mates - this song is not reaching its sonic and emotional potential.
