according to the guy who attended the listening party, it doesn't sound much different at all. (but that opinion was based on only one listen) I guess when Noel made these comments in 2002-2003 he was just talking out of his ass a little since the 2004 demo doesn't fit that description of "Led Zeppelin doing The Beatles" or being a 10 minute Supernova style guitar epic. don't forget, the live versions could very well turn out to be very different, much longer, and with extended guitar solos too (to be where there's life anyone? )

Has anyone ever noticed that the outro on RM demo sounds similar to the outro to Massive Attack's Teardrop? And Mucky Fingers

and it just occurs to me now, but when was the last time you ever heard that the longest track on an album by any artist also opened the album? seems a bit unique to say the least... The only thing that springs to mind is Kings of Leon's third album Because of The Times. I believe the first song Knocked Up is the longest track on the album at 7 minutes length and the rest of the tracks range from 3-4 minutes. 'Babel On', track 1 on The Soundtrack Of Our Lives' album 'Communion' is the longest track on the entire 24 track double-LP. Also the best song on the album by miles.

i am sure one report from the listening party said STC was the best track and mentioned the word 'fresh'? this should negate any fears of the tracks being the same as the demo's, besides Noel must surely be aware of the backlash be would recieve from fans after saying he could have made 3 albums only to go on and give us 8 new songs in effect.

He knows a few things but I wouldn't take it as the gospel truth. Anyhow, "fresh" could mean a lot of things. Could be fresh as in a new direction for Noel...?

Lets just remember that in regards to RM - after hearing it Mr Jeff Slate gave it a "fucking 11/10" , and he is a proper fan so im almost certain he has heard the demo, therefore would have most likely complained that Noel had done nothing to it, it must have some brilliant production for Mr Slate to say what he said?

I think "Second Life Replay" is a better song than "Babel On."

These track lengths tell me one thing only . . .
Noel is obviously very conscience of making this album VERY listening friendly. Surely he is not immune to all of the talk of his song dragging on over the years. I'm actually okay with this, because it leaves you wanting more of it which keeps the hunger there for it.
Cheers!

The soundcheck sounds top notch and I expect from the instrumental version we heard to be a nice Ennio Morricone/spaghetti western themed tune.
