not really major news but news all the same, here's the track times for each song: www.hmvdigital.com/artist/noel-gallaghers-high-flying-birds/noel-gallaghers-high-flying-birdsalthough they have a preview button for each track, and a specific file name for each clip ready to go, the clips don't work just yet but i'd keep an eye on it as it gets closer to release date for those preview junkies out there... 01 Everybody's On The Run 5:3002 Dream On 4:2903 If I Had A Gun... 4:0904 The Death Of You And Me 3:2905 (I Wanna Live In A Dream In My) Record Machine 4:2306 AKA...What A Life 4:2407 Soldier Boys And Jesus Freaks 3:2208 AKA...Broken Arrow 3:3509 (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach 4:0210 Stop The Clocks 5:04What I think this tells us is: -Death Of You And Me and If I Had A Gun are not radio edits in any way, what you see is what you get. -There's still another 3 full minutes of What A Life beyond the preview clip, like mr mono and others say, i feel what we heard is a heavily edited clip so still expecting big things with the guitar solo and so forth -Record Machine and Stop The Clocks are near identical to the "finished demo" times indicating maybe no big changes, just a few updated extra riffs or instruments and polished up "final" vocals, but no big changes

and it just occurs to me now, but when was the last time you ever heard that the longest track on an album by any artist also opened the album? seems a bit unique to say the least...

Be honest, who clicked the preview buttons?
Anyway, nice find man... I'm glad to see that they all have decent lengths. I was worried about seeing some with less than 2 minutes.

This is a pretty short album. Looks almost like DM in terms of length.

I'm sure they aren't demo copies. Just a coincidence.

This is a pretty short album. Looks almost like DM in terms of length. 10mins shorter, if my calculations are correct - comparable to DBTT which clocked in at 42mins.

RM is slightly shorter, STC is the exact same length.....I seriously hope Noel made some adjustments with these.... Yeah, that kind of worries me. It could just be a slight shortening of the outro. There's a resolve that comes in the last 11 seconds which hangs on for a bit. He cuts the silent resolve by about 6 seconds, that makes up for the difference.

Has anyone ever noticed that the outro on RM demo sounds similar to the outro to Massive Attack's Teardrop?

That's write Anyway love the drum on this track based on the foetus heartbeat. Probably the most magic song in the world.

Theoretically, Noel could have only altered the lyrics of RM and thus have it clock in at the exact same time.
I was seriously hoping for the guitar laden epic, though. The song deserves that.
Even if it's exactly the demo form or only has minor adjustments, I'll be glad that it was officially released. It's a proper tune. But I will be forever disappointed it never lived up to its full potential.
I know it's premature to jump to conclusions, but if Noel didn't work on it, one really has to wonder why he continues to make glaring mistakes (like picking the wrong tracklisting).
He's a genius, for sure, but his negligence to the obvious is incredibly frustrating.

The other possibility is that he ended up removing glaring elements and replaced them, say he replaced an entire middle eight or something. Structure wise, it can be the same but musically is a completely different story...you can make it sound like ANYTHING if you know how long each section's to last.

So much for Record Machine being this:
Described by Noel as being about buying records and being "about 10 minutes long and it's big, psychedelic, loads of guitar solos, but it's good though, the lyrics are good." He's also said it's like Led Zeppelin doing The Beatles and "it's kind of like a "Champagne Supernova" thing."
I really expected it to be the longest track on the album and significantly re-worked from the DBTT demo of 2004 in terms of running time and epic scale. Can't wait to find out just how different it is.

(but that opinion was based on only one listen) I guess when Noel made these comments in 2002-2003 he was just talking out of his ass a little since the 2004 demo doesn't fit that description of "Led Zeppelin doing The Beatles" or being a 10 minute Supernova style guitar epic.

The only thing that springs to mind is Kings of Leon's third album Because of The Times. I believe the first song Knocked Up is the longest track on the album at 7 minutes length and the rest of the tracks range from 3-4 minutes.
