I watched/listened to the preview clips for DBTT and it totally ruined the album for me.
I (somehow) resisted the temptation to listen to any clips from DOYS until full length, high quality rips of the songs became available. I must say, it was glorious to hear the album for the first time without having already listened to the preview clips to death.
For the new album I have set the following parameters for myself:
1. Not listening to any album preview snippets, not even once.
2. Not listening to STC or RM demos again until after the album is leaked in full, high quality.
3. Not listening to EOTR soundcheck or choir and strings version until after the album is leaked in full, high quality.
4. Only listening to TDOYAM and IIHAG sparingly until the album is leaked in full, high quality.
Anyone else see the benefit in not listening to the preview clips? I suspect I will be in the minority here. It was tough not to give in for DOYS, but it was well worth it when I finally heard the likes of "Bag It Up", "The Turning" and "Soldier On" for the first time totally fresh.

I definitely think not listening to the preview clips would make listening to the full songs for the first time a more enjoyable experience...but I'm not sure I have the willpower when everyone on this board will be talking about them.
I'm especially interested in hearing the preview clips of STC/RM just to see exactly how different they are than the old DBTT outtakes we had before.

Really good advice.
I tend to stay away from all previews, demos, sound check stuff for that very reason.
It seems most of the people who were disappointed and/or critical of IIHAG fell into 2 camps.
1. Haters gonna hate. 2. People who've spent the last 2 years listening to the sound check version and just can't wrap their heads around a fully produced studio version.

Yeah, I managed to avoid listening to the IIHAG soundcheck until I'd heard the full song and it's considerably better in every way, lots of people seemed to be getting stressed about the "forgive me" being cut, despite "excuse me" flowing better and being less weepy.

If I do listen to previews it would be once and only in the background. I don't even have the urge to listen to songs out of context so it's not an issue for me. Same thing with the soundchecks.

I'll be following those same parameters...I really wish now that I'd never listened to the If I Had A Gun soundcheck version...it definitely tripped me up on my first few listens. Won't be listening to any of the other songs we've heard soundchecks/demos of between now and album drop.
If Noel plays a new one live on a BBC type thing I'll listen then, though.

I think I'll do the same thing. I (somehow) resisted the temptation to listen to any clips from DOYS until full length, high quality rips of the songs became available. I did that for DGSS but the album didnt lived up to my expectations(the best songs are way apart, and when they are back to back is to late for the casual listener). And with DOYS I heard only once but it didnt spoiled my listen of the album instead it made me realize that IT was something i didnt want to spoil(so I havent heard snippets for any album since then). Bring Tha Album already Noel

Doing the same as the OP.
To this day, I like the DGSS previews better than the actual record.

i listened to the previews clips of DOYS and thought i would love the album, turns out i ended up not thinking much of it when i bought the deluxe CD/DVD version.
With DBTT, i never listened to the previews, i still hold that album in very high regard. arguably Oasis' 3rd best studio album.
You could say there's some correlation there but... i also listened to the 3m sec clips of DBTT and i actually liked that album.... a lot. It's a very good album imo .

That's a really good idea. I'm not listening to a single demo or soundcheck until the album comes out.
IIHAG is just fucking brilliant, but I feel like I would have loved it ten times more if I did not listen to the soundcheck on repeat for an entire year.

I think I'll choose one to listen to, then close the window and wait for the album.
It would probably be "AKA...What a Life!" because I'm very curious to hear this "disco" song Noel keeps going on about.

I mean, if someone came up to you and asked if you wanted to hear the first 30 secs of Everybody's on the Run, Record Machine, Stop the Clocks, etc. you would say "no"?

I listened to the clips from DGSS through twice then never again. Got a feel that the album wouldn't be total shite, which was nice. Didn't effect my listening later at all.
Most likely will do the same here.
