You can find Straw's "Shoplifting" CD on Amazon pretty cheap. It's quirky, catchy Britpop. They also made a second album that leaked on the internet called "Keepsakes," but it was never made commercially available because the band disbanded before its release. Keepsakes is one of my favourite ever records and Mattie Bennett easily one of my favourite songwriters, I loved the band at that point in 2000-01 so of course they had to get dropped and split up. I'm happy to know they are not totally forgotten, Mattie Bennett got a job teaching at a school after their split, I'd bet he still cranks out fantastic songs , while other members joined Crispian Mills post-Kula Shaker band The Jeevas. By-the-by, here are 2 songs from Keepsakes

By-the-by, here are 2 songs from Keepsakes I agree..."Keepsakes" is a fantastic British album. I was lucky to be a fan of theirs back then, as well. I remember waiting and waiting for the album to be released and it never came out. Also, I believe "In & Out" was scheduled to be the next single from the album and that got shelved, too. I'm probably the only person in the USA that even has any idea the album exists but I used to read all the imported music magazines in those days. I own both Jeevas albums - the first one was ok, the second was rather underwhelming, IMO. I didn't think either of them were as good as any of the Kula Shaker or Straw albums, by a wide margin. "Edge Of The World" was a really good album closer though.

Totally shameless self promotion! This is from our last ep, and we have new ep coming soon, which is like a cross between editors/oasis/manics/white lies

This thread is cool. Discovered a few bands here that otherwise I would have never ever heard of in my entire life. Thanks everyone posting!

Have I mentioned The Lines iin this thread before? They're really good. I've seen them supporting Ian Brown last year and bought their first album. Both the album and live are very good.

How many tracks are on Keepsakes? I can only find a 5-track EP... There were twelve on the promo copy that someone leaked and if you search closely, there was a 13th track lingering somewhere called "Dracula (I Will Survive)" which I don't think was supposed to be on the finished album. The 5-track EP that you have was a promo sampler but it's worth owning because the version of "This Is The Future" on there has an 8-second intro that was later omitted from the album version.

That's weird; I just found a 17-track version on Soulseek! It has the tracklisting: Sailing Off The Edge Of The World Watching You Sleep Be Careful Golden Age I'm Desperate Pop Music In & Out Negative of Love I Saw Her First Tomorrow Is Promised To No One Flowers On A Lampost Sunday Best This Is The Future Great Art No Encores Dracula (I Will Survive) How To Survive
What's the tracklisting for the one you have?

The one I received was a burnt copy of the advance promo that was sent out before release. I rearranged the song order to fit what I thought was better, but I can tell you this much - of the 17 songs on your list, yours includes the 4 B-sides (GA, ID, SB, GA), the aforementioned "Dracula (I Will Survive)" song, plus "How To Survive," which is a song that I know nothing about. However, your list is missing the song "Temporary," which was supposed to be on the "Keepsakes" album but somehow, it seems to have disappeared. There is one other unreleased song to keep an eye out for - "Death Of Disco" which kind of sounds like an unfinished demo. It wasn't on the final tracklisting and I have no clue where it comes from.

Death of Disco was actually the exclusive b side of the vinyl version of the Sailing off the edge of the world single, never came out on CD so the only version is a vinyl rip. How to survive and Dracula (I Wll Survive) are different names for the same song. I think all 17 songs are from the Keepsakes sessions but for the actual release the band would have picked 12 and put them in a much better and appropriate runnig order. If you're missing any tracks I can upload them, just say which ones.

NOL B-sides bonus tracks: 13. SB 14. ID 15. Golden Age 16. Great Art Other extras: 17. D(IWS) 18. DOD

Not sure if they have been mentioned by I just got into Wilco after a bit of a musical drought. Caught the documentary about Yankee Hotel Foxtrot on Netflix and was impressed. Downloaded a few albums (legally) and was hooked. Great band who I am sorry I overlooked for so long. New album is great by the way.

Most of the time I'm decently self sufficient, but let's face it, I'm tecnologically stupid. Is there any way to get more songs by Echo Raptors? I see them on their sound cloud, but can only download a few of them. I'd like to get into them. (And I'm more likely to play them to other people if I have a decent ish collection in case they express an interest, for all those other people who like watching bands get that little bit bigger )

Should be pretty easy to use and install, I think the website or creator is German but I had no problems with getting it Would post a link but not sure if we're allowed.

Have you listened to the classic 90s britpop bands/albums? Suede (albums to note: Suede, Dog Man Star, Coming Up!), Supergrass (albums: In It For The Money, I Should Coco), Pulp (albums: His n Hers, Different Class), Cast (albums: Magic Hour, All Change), Manic Street Preachers (albums: Everything Must Go, This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours), Blur (albums: Parklife, Modern Life Is Rubbish, The Great Escape), Boo Radleys (albums: Wake Up Boo) Charlatans (albums: Tellin' Stories, The Charlatans, Up To Our Hips) Ash (albums: 1977) Just to add to this, I think all of The Charalatan's albums are worth listening to. All brilliant stuff in a pretty varied catalog! The one albums I don't really like are their latest and Simpatico (though that one has the fantastic Black and Blue Eyes and Muddy Ground). Wonderland and Up At the Lake are two excellent ones by them, as well as Up To our Hips (which has two of their best tunes: Can't Get Out of Bed and Jesus Hairdo). Ash, in my opinion, are very much a singles band. It's worth seeking out Intergalactic Sonic 7"s which is a singles collection. Burn Baby Burn is one of my favorite tunes by them. Their latest singles collections, A-Z Volumes 1 and 2, both are collections of absolute gems.

That's awesome, thanks a lot mate! (Might even replace that online youtube to mp3 converter I've fallen in love with so much). I'll try it out soon, see how it goes. And just in case it's the kind of thing that goes further than an actual thank you, I + karma'd you too

When Plastic People came out a couple of months ago, I emailed them and asked if there was any way one could purchase the song. The Caddell brothers in the band are very nice guys - they emailed me the mp3 for free. You might wanna just add them to your "likes" on Facebook (assuming that you have Facebook).
