I wasn't really directing my post towards you tbh, it's just that you mentioned something I was thinking about earlier and I saw it as an opportunity to say my piece...

I don't believe in organized religion full-stop. I don't believe a man in the Vatican or even the man that preachs @ the church down the road has any better idea about the conflicts in my life than me or the people that I love and trust and know the first thing about me and the situation around me.
Living your life for the good of man-kind and your friend/family/community is infinitely preferable to living it for the idea of living it for the good of my own soul and the dream of after-life rewards IMO.
The idea that I need a bible or a preacher to know right from wrong is absurd IMO. I live a life no more or less worthy than someone that buys into the idea of religion. The idea of morality needing to be rooted in religion always grinds my gears. My father is religious and he constantly brings up the idea of Christian morality as if those that don't subscribe to Christianity are lacking something in the morals deparment and it makes me so annoyed.

Er no, I have not misunderstood his point, if anything it is copie himself - what Cast was saying was that Christian's don't consider themselves perfect, particularly when many atheists seem to think most religious folk seem to think of themselves as perfect. Yes, that's what Cast was intending. That much is clear. Read my post more carefully. The "even though" part implies (whether he meant to or not) that Christians are, as a rule or a general rule, perfect souls or "have it all figured out". Here's an example to help you understand what I'm saying. "Even though I'm an atheist/agnostic I'm generally a nice person" If you don't read that sentence and understand that it means the opposite is generally true (atheists as not very nice people) then I guess I can't help you. These threads always end horribly, though, so I will bid believer and nonbeliever a fond farewell and exit quietly. No, no no - I'm referring to copie himself not understanding it, not yourself, so my statement was perfectly legitimate.
