Parachutes is a good record. Everything else is why Coldplay is going(or should) to riot in hell A Rush Of Blood To The Head is fantastic, this kind of album you can write one time and only one time in your life. This. The first two Coldplay albums shits all over anything Oasis, Kasabian, Kings Of Leon, The Killers, etc have done this century. And from a great height. Their albums compared to the first two Coldplay albums are so inferior it's a joke. P.S. I like how some folk concede that Parachutes is a great album after finding out Noel thinks it's great...

I named Parachutes because it has Yellow, Don't Panic, Trouble, etc. all the other albums are crap bar one or two songs.
Noel loves Kasabian and I hate them.

Yeah okay, it's a bit of a sensational statement to make, but there are folk on this site who are blinded by who they idolise.

You are not aone. Coldplay and Snow Patrol are both fucking terrible shit... I understand more why people like things like The Wanted and JLS... Fuck it, even The Wombles... But I can't understand how people like Coldplay... I would genuinely take a bullet for Justin Bieber/ Cher Lloyd/ Rebecca Black if it meant we could wipe all traces of Coldplay from existence... I just had to laugh. From somebody who ACTUALLY thinks Kasabian's albums are better than Coldplay's... and who thinks Kasabian are actually the greatest band ever... while stating he can see reasons as to why people like JLS. Deluded much?Well, Noel a few years back stated Parachutes (along with a Doves album) are the only truly great album of the noughties, and I completely agree with himAlright then...

Okay, I don't agree it's the best album of the noughties (but Noel does) but it is one of the best. Probably the greatest album of the noughties is Funeral by Arcade Fire.

I think they're excellent and their first two albums are fantastic - easily better than most of the shite mentioned on this site. Granted, X&Y wasn't any good at all but Viva La Vida was a very good album, besides that, none of their albums have ever been slated by critics - but their new single is just appalling. And as Let It Bleed refers upon, they are a fantastic live band. One of the very best in the world. Jesus Christ! Calm the fuck down haha!!!!! The people who like JLS are brainwashed teenage girls... Not people who can think for themselves... That's why they like them... But what is it that people see in Coldplay? It's just boring shit. Chris martin is just a Bono wanabee wanker who needs a slap... Maybe if they made a song that wasn't the same sort of thing as Snow Patrol, maybe they'd be good... At least Kasabian have creativity in their work... Fucking hell, even Family Guy know that Coldplay are shit...

At one time I loved this band (no secret on this forum, people know I'm a fan), but I'm honestly not interested in their new direction. Their new tunes are mediocre at best. In all honestly this band peaked with their second lp.

They have 2 fantastic albums out of four (Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood To The Head). One is incredibly boring (i really like 4 songs though) and the other one is solid (Viva La Vida). They are a good live band. Went to their concert in Rio last year and it was very cool. I'm going to see them again this year in Rock In Rio.
I'm not interested if Chris Martin is gay or wants to pretend he's Bono or God. I'm only interested in music and they sure are good at it!

I don't like Coldplay because their music is just...boring. If people can find that interesting enough to listen to then you obviously have more patience than me.

I agree on both accounts. It's a shame that the album has no dynamics whatsoever(mind you the tunes live get to another level). What, on Funeral? The production isn't amazing, but when you have songs that good, it doesn't matter as much.

Coldplay were tolerable and somewhat decent early on (see AROBTTH) before they became U2 wanna-bes (a band I can't stand), and overly pretentious (see their idiotic idea of two tracks in one on their last album - a concept which ruined Death and All His Friends track, the first half of which is really good). VLV is the most pretentious and annoying album by them. How anyone likes that dross is beyond me. Also, one can only take so much yelping from Chris Martin..... If I'm on a plane, or a long car trip and want to sleep, I'll put them on my ipod and drift off. Otherwise, I don't listen to them. they are blatantly your favourite band of all time and you have a Chris Martin poster on your wall

Parachutes is one of my favorite albums of all time and AROBTH is a superb album. X&Y is a bit shit and Viva La Vida is decent but they have some incredible tunes. I saw them live a couple days ago and they blew me away. Easily one of the best live acts in the world. I don't understand how some you all like stuff like Viva Brother, The Enemy, Twisted Wheel and other basic pub rock wanna be Oasis shit over Coldplay but I guess its just a matter of taste.
Their new single (teardrop) is pretty shit but some of the other tunes like Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven are great tunes. For a mainstream band they are pretty great and you kinda have to dig deeper than their huge singles to really understand them as a band I think. Songs like Crest Of Waves, Green Eyes, Sparks, Strawberry Swing, Amsterdam, are great great tunes.
Also Snow Patrol's first two albums aren't too shabby either a little hollow but it had a nice 90's indie vibe to them before they turned into a typical dramatic pop ballad band.
Funeral is one of the best albums in the 00's easily and Doves along with Spoon (and a few others i'm too lazy to type) may have been the most consistently great bands of the past decade.

I couldn't agree with you more here, especially you're opinion on the shit uninspired three chord simpleton pub rock dirge that infests this board. Until bands like that write a tune that comes close to the brilliance of Amsterdam, Spies, Trouble, Green Eyes, then they might be forgiven - but that is highly unlikely. Some folk just need to broaden their horizons.

Some folk just need to broaden their horizons. Broaden their horizons by listening to Coldplay? It's not like they are space jazz or something ;D

It's not like they are space jazz or something ;D Yes but the fact that a lot of folk's listening habits on this site extend as far as that pub shite makes Coldplay look avant garde in comparison. The argument that Coldplay just make the same music is a piss poor argument especially for those who don't own their albums, and I find the argument hilarious being on an Oasis site.

For a variety of reasons, I've never fully given Coldplay a chance. I am going to rectify that tonight.
They've always been in the same boat as Smashing Pumpkins for me. I can appreciate them and am not afraid to admit 1979 is a fucking tune, but I can't truly say I really like them.
