First two albums up there with DM and MG? Go listen to all 4 albums again lad. What 4 albums do you speak of? And I love Youth And Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak. As I said, I almost rate them as high as DM and WTSMG. Emphasis on the 'I' and the 'almost'. There isn't a track I don't like on their first 2 albums.

I've never heard the early stuff, looks like I'm missing out... Don't bother, they're a product of their times in every sense of the word. I don't like using the term, but they're the definition of irrelevant. A bloated, overgrown rock band full of fashionista prima-donnas that belong in the bargain bin.

Aha Shake Heartbreak has it's moments, as does their debut, but it's nothing phenomenal. They had a lot of promise and they threw it away.

The singer is crap and their whole image is contrived, while the music is unbelievably shit with banal lyrics. Sex on fire? Seriously? And if Only By The Night was bad, their new one Come Around Sundown is an embarrasment to the music industry. Also a load of rubbish live apparently.
They themselves are an embarrasment. They whore themselves out to the big lights and showbiz sacrificing what little talent they had. They aren't real rockstars at all like the Gallaghers or Rolling Stones for example. They like to make out they are rock stars but they're just a big bunch of fakes.

Lots of hatred in this thread. Just remember the pre-2007 KOL. Pretend they are 2 different bands (pre 2007 and post 2007). Pre were fantastic and post were shocking.

This is the best post i've EVER read on this forum since the day i joined,i agree with everything you just said.People slag off liam singing live, the shit singer from KOL is worse on record than liam is on stage. No one could ever get me into them, complete shit.We lost oasis .. i think it's time we lose a shit band for a change & hopefully take that soon

The first three albums were good but they weren't anywhere near DM or WTSMG.
They were a decent band with a couple of decent tunes and now they're a shit band.

They definitely have some killer tunes from the early days:
- Red Morning Light - Trani - California Waiting - Molly Chambers - King of the Rodeo - Taper Jean Girl - Pistol of Fire - Milk
I think Caleb recently admitted a while back that the pressure to make music that will sell to their "new" fan base weighed on them heavily and caused internal strife. I prefer the first 3 albums. I don't really ever listen to their most recent ones. They seem to have lost that killer edge in their music. I dug their 2004-2005 look. I felt like they were a real life Stillwater from Almost Famous.

I've gone through the same pattern every time a KOL album is released (including the debut)
-Get the album -Listen and declare it awesome and their best yet -Have no interest in listening for a good couple of months -Listen again and realize it's actually the work of a mediocre (at best) band
Even at their peak they were never in the top 5 of the "garage rock" bands at the time (White Stripes, Strokes, Black Keys, etc.)

Isn't that when he said he'd considered suicide because he hated the sudden rise to fame or something? i think it's time we lose a shit band for a change & hopefully take that soon I could think of a lot of acts they could take INSTEAD of KoL... KoL aren't exactly the worst. There are bigger evils out there (BTW, that smiley was the closest I could get to one raised eyebrow)

Why should I listen to them again? Do you not like my opinion or something I happen to think that they are the best first 2 albums released by a band since Oasis released their first 2 albums. I'm sorry if you cannot comprehend this and need me to listen to these albums again

KOL were always bland. But they were never in your face and unbearable until 2008. I'll maintain that On Call and perhaps Red Morning Light are decent songs, but that is all.

And I have listened to The Strokes and I'm also a fan of them, thanks for your concern.

Great band. The Black Keys....not really a fan tbh. I feel like I'm being interrogated

[Here, I'm not counting the very first one which is just Dave Grohl under the name... I'm talking TCATS and TINLTL] The Killers? Muse? Just saying
