I think that the idea that Noel is the way he is to keep the upper hand isn't quite right. I think that Noel is just super independent and really couldn't care less about peoples opinions. Liam is the opposite, we've heard it again and again from Noel, Gem, and Andy that Liam used the show off his songs and need to be encouraged. I don't think that Noel is willing to bend his more stoic approach to life to accomodate Liam's neediness. I think some of it is that Noel is a very private person emotionally. I think that he thinks the idea of having to constantly tell someone that something is good or that he is proud of him is a bit weird. But that is the kind of thing that Liam would probably love to hear from him It's a bit like that emotionally reserved dad that never tells you he loves you. He assumes that you know he does because of what he does for you. I think Noel thinks a bit like that. "I don't have to hold your hand and rave about your tunes. Of course I think you are a good songwriter...I've been putting 3 of your tunes on the album...it's that enough reassurance?" Absolutely spot on. +1,000 |

Herein lies the difference between Liam and Noel. Liam is obsessed with Noel. Noel is indifferent to Liam (which leads to Liam acting like a three year old trying to get his attention i.e., wielding a guitar like an axe, throwing plums and leaving messages on his phone late at night.) It's always been like that, and from what I've read in books and stuff it comes from even childhood... Whilst Noel is a very reserved person and doesn't really like to show his emotions Liam is very affective and he needs everybody's attention. He might have had it from everyone but never from Noel, who I personally believe he loves madly. That's where I think all the anger comes from, Noel's indifference to him, and I think it's a bit sad really. I've even seen Noel say in an interview that even when Liam showed him his songs, Noel would be like "it's alright, yeah." - he kept constantly trying to impress him but he never could, and that's got to be frustrating. Re: the current situation I very much agree with Rita. However, I don't think that Noel was indifferent towards Liam until around 2006, in fact very much the opposite. He might not have been positive towards Liam but no way was he indifferent. And I think it is the indifference that is the most painful thing to Liam, the idea that Noel really doesn't think and care about him.
As for the "Dido" part, there might be also other angles than musical ones to consider. Obviously the tweet is meant as an insult towards Noel's music, but it also compares him to a woman (as in"little bitch") AND it might also refer to Noel living the kind of upper-middle-class life that the Gallaghers used to despise. Isn't it so that Dido comes from quite a privileged upper-middle class background?

Liam should shut up and stop talking shit cause the only thing he's getting with what he's doing is making hiself look ridiculous and making it easier to Noel... Liam needs to grow up but I think he ever won't so he needs someone to control him... I think it's weird how a lot of people keep trying to justify Liam's behaviour all the time with stupid excuses. I mean, Noel hasn't said anything bad and disrespectful about Beady Eye and Liam keeps talking shit about Noel but some of you still put Noel as the one to be blamed and Liam as the victim...  By the way, Everything Liam tweets makes me laugh so I don't have a problem with it. I actually hope he keeps doing it. |

I remember the old Noel - he was modest, down to earth and would give anyone the time of day...not any more.
Interestingly, I've always felt that Liam has struggled with the fame. I've known him since he was knee high to a grasshopper, and he has always just been in it for the music. True, he appreciated spending the money on fur coats and enough cocaine to make the Mediterranean fizzy, but if you asked him which he would have for the rest of his life: making music with his mate or the wonga, Liam would go for the first option.
Noel, on the other hand, has been brainwashed. In a way, I long for the idiot falling out of trees after sniffing too much glue.
