The trumpet section (from 2.08) is a bit like "so give me a start with a brand new heart..." (Underneath the Sky) then to a little bit of the Benefit of Mr Kite line.

TIOBI is a staple of my life, so of course I absolutely love this. The horn section is amazing. I listened to it with a friend who isn't a big Oasis fan and she loved it too.

Can't believe the negativity. Blows me away and surpassed my expectations. Better than anything BDI's done by a long shot.

Better than anything BDI's done by a long shot. it is better than BDI's output thus far. i'm trying to avoid comparing them too much ,but yeah. anyone should be able to see that, it's kind of a given. better lyrically, that's not saying much. better musically, again not saying much. God bless everyone.

The Death Of You and Me is great! Gets better with each listen. First Impression was that it reminds me alot of The Importance of Being Idle (which is a good thing) . Noel does a great job of utilizing the brass section....love his voice with his Falsettos. The chorus is good to, a nice steady beat that really hits you. GREAT TUNE! Better than ANYTHING Beady Eye has put out. Cant wait for the album!

Noel is evolving as a writer so glad he isn't turning out the wanna be Oasis tunes circa 94-97.

If I could eliminate one fucking term on earth it'd be "fanboy" and every fucking version of it...be it "ed" "ism" or any other variation.
dipshits: only a fucking pure-bred, imbecilic lunatic would continue to adore something that is no longer appealing to them.
If someone continues to be pleased/satisifed with something there's a near CERTAINTY that it's carrying on with the aspects/features/charactersitics that made it worthy of their admiration in the first place.
Just like this fucking song.
Hence, the term: "fan".
And why "fanboy" is fucking idiotic.
God damn is it a shame that a perfectly fine forum has to be continually inundated with a modicum of morons.

Its a o.k. return from the man himself but nothing more. Still cant wait for the album as no doubt it will be getting blasted to death for many months to come and to have our kid out there on the road again soon is only a good thing. This music scene as we call it is piss poor these days so the more music we get out there either from noel or the beady boys isall good in my eyes. And if am honest am more buzzing about The Twang's new single "Paradise" that has just been released on a free download today. A quality tune from the uk's most underated band "In my eyes once again" so dont shoot me bashers... The Twang have a new single out today? I must find this!!

I'm glad he isn't revisiting 94-97 as well - lest we forget the hideousness of HC and "Force of Nature", etc - but is this tune really "evolution"? With respect - not attacking here, genuine question - what's different about it? The only songwriter taking risks with non-linear structure, chord changes, is Liam, albeit most likely accidentally (BOADC, Wigwam) - and we all know he's totally hit and miss.

Why is is a bad thing that it sounds like The Importance Of Being Idle? (And it does, you can't deny it, it's a fact) TIOBI is the best song Noel's written since SOTSOG and is actually my personal favourite Oasis track (that's solely my personal preference). So hearing a similar tune to TIOBI with a bit of a twist has made me very happy indeed

I mean who thought Noel would put horn that resemble a new orleans big band/jazz ensemble the vibe of the song is a little different its a bit quirky than the rest of his tunes. Its not like Kid A or anything but it is a subtle difference from Noel at least in my opinion.

What were you expecting? A big, grand, dramatic ballad for the first single? Or a psychadelic mash up like the Falling Down Remix? That would be a disaster. I'm sure there are tracks like that on the album, but releasing them as the lead singles would be stupid. All bands (well most bands) will release their catchiest song as the single because it's just that! Catchy! My guess is that this is the catchiest poppiest song on the record, that's why it was chosen to promote it! It would be like releasing Gas Panic! as the first single from SOTSOG. Or Stop Crying Your Heart Out or BOADC from HC, or Mucky Fingers (which Noel did actually want to do LOL) or Part Of The Queue from DBTT or Soldier On from DOYS. I don't know what you people were expecting (maybe you were misled by the snippet we heard in the trailer) but I was expecting a poppy, summery song as it IS the first single!

I've listened to it, and wow, this is one of Noel's finest ever vocals ever. What a great vocal performance. It is a fantastic little tune.

The song: it is a good song, I like it bcoz Noel is taking a new direction, he is more "textures and sounds" music oriented (maybe this is a great difference between TIOBI and TDOYAM). Guess he will be using a broader range of instrumentation on his album (brass, strings instruments, etc) than in the last three Oasis albums, going back to the times of The Masterplan, Going Nowhere... and that is simply fantastic. His music fits perfectly for that kind of arrangements. I love the Kinks feeling in this song and the "foward march" beat. The lyrics are good, with amazing biblical lines like: I´m watching my tv or is it watching me???. But Noel´s been writing these kind of songs about feeling down, lost, alienated, uncomfortable since SOTSOG (Falling Down, WDTAGW, Part of the Queue the clearest examples). Compare this to the uplifting and self confidence lyrics of DM or WTSMG and we can tell Noel is more introspective than before but at the same time fragile and aged, like any other artist. A human being after all. Catchy tune. 7.5/10
The video: simple, with a message transmitted in a good way: a girl who is sick of normal and average life (maybe representing Noel´s feelings on the song), and then leaving to a better and wild colourful life with that marching circus-band. The video it´s about breaking the rules, the daily life style, reminescent of Noel´s early feelings on Half the world away, Rock and roll star and Slide away. I guess Noel plays the encouraging role in the video by pushing the girl into the pool to make her realize she needs to wake up. At the end, the video and the song match harmoniously well. 6/10

If the whole song is not a classic, we can try to say it about the lyrics. One of his best, IMO (apparently, it's of utmost important to state this around here)

Fantastic. Absolutely love it. Sounds pretty summery and (IMO) fairly radio-friendly.
Also, first ever post from a recently registered, LONG-time lurker.

I'm a big fan of High Horse Lady and i'm not a 'fanboy' Oh yes, anybody that likes a track you dont is automatically a fanboy. Gotcha. (And there's plenty of Noel written songs I have a strong dislike for and haven't listened to in years, so don't reply with the "you obviously are a Noel fanboy" rubbish) i wont, YOU will do that for me though.... answer this, do you think this song is better than any song BDI has released?

It is a fantastic little tune. totally agree, the man knows his voice range and where his power is. that's why he said theresn't any rocker coz he knows how to take advantage from his voice which is great
