Much better than I expected considering that Millionaire came in at 71.
Did In the Bubble with a Bullet chart?

So what? Remember the Velvets, so who gives a fook. Are you really comparing Beady Eye to The Velvet Underground?

Seriously just given up on the charts now. Fair enough The Roller and Millionaire were just poorly promoted but they really couldnt have done much more with this.
Just looked at the top 40 and remember just how bad the state of music is. That fucking Adele is at like number 25 with a song thats been out about 1 million weeks.
It's got to a stage where i think they should just release one single before the album and that is it. Probably costs more to make the fucking vinyls than chart at 64 for fucks sake

For the record, Adele is actually a really talented singer and her music is good, unlike Rihanna/Lady gaga shite. 64 isn't bad for the fourth single.

Alright maybe i was being harsh on Adele but it just annoys me an artist these days gets constantly played on the radio and then they are in the top 40 for weeks and then you have a great song like TBGO coming in at 64. 99% of the artists in the chart are not a fucking patch on Beady Eye and you can garuntee some Pete Waterman wankshaft has written all their "hits" for them while Beady Eye write their songs, put in the dedication and get fuck all for it.

Artists like coldplay, arctic monkeys even Oasis did much better. now you get these annoying kids downloading shit online and polluting the charts. where as before they would have to go out in to town and buy a CD of the song. Which, takes more effort so they would wait for a while or not buy it.

Thanks for the info but in all honesty I really do not give a flying fuck about the charts and haven't cared since 2000. 99% of the charts is pukeworthy and the people who put that music there are worse. They are weak, tuneless lobotomized lambs who need shooting!

Are you really comparing Beady Eye to The Velvet Underground? Not really. I just wanted to make a point that you're a fookin idiot for starting this thread, like. Why? I posted it because some people are interested. You're not. We don't care. Now fuck off.

Since SalvadorDolly is now gone for good, I feel safe to post the sales of 4,090 to chart at #64

Beady Eye’s The Beat Goes On debuts at number 64, with 4,090 sales, of which 3,227 (78.90%) were on 7-inch. It tops the 7-inch chart by a huge margin, with Wilko’s I Might a distant second, with just 69 sales. Despite their 7-inch success, Beady Eye’s overall singles track record is in stark contrast to that of Oasis, the band that begat them. Of the five singles taken from Beady Eye’s debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, the highest charting – The Roller – peaked at number 31. That’s the same position in which Oasis’ debut single, Supersonic, peaked in 1994. All 25 subsequent singles by Oasis fared significantly better, making the Top 12. Different Gear, Still Speeding itself reached number three but appears not to have benefitted from the release of The Beat Goes On, as it slips 97-132 this week. Sales of 1,025 take its 21 week tally to 138,908, whereas even Oasis’ last album, Dig Out Your Soul, sold 200,866 copies the week it was released in 2008.

I'd even take Duffy's first album over Adele.

Not too surprised. The song gets old and boring after about 3 listens.

very interesting info deasy55, thanks! do you work in the biz, for music week or something?
So basically BDI don't sell downloads but sell vinyl - is that an indication of age of buyers or just that only 'core fans' are buying?
and do you know how 140k albums shape up against other guitar bands etc?

No I don't work in it (yet anyway) but I have an interest. In terms of other guitar bands this year in the UK, Foo Fighters have sold 306,200, Elbow 235,200, Artic Monkeys ~160,000. Bands Beady Eye outsold in the UK this year includes Vaccines 123,100 and The Strokes new album has sold less than 100k

Adele rules. Don't hate on her. Oh and Lady Gaga rules. Don't hate on her.
Don't blame Beady Eye's weak chart success on the fact that those those two can write excellent pop tracks and sell in the millions with their unique and dazzling talent.

I thought you must have an 'in'! Interesting that the Arctic's haven't sold much more than Beady Eye considering their festival /live profile, and coldplay's 4th single figures all add context to the people who are using the sales figures to knock LAG. Extra contect tho', I had an email from the guy that made that 'instant roller' mix thanking me for helping spread the word on this forum and elsewhere, and it had 2,000 downloads in a week. obv they were free but it's food for thought!
